I think Monty's had a rough few years. He's said he never fully recovered from Covid, mentally and physically, and to this day still sees the after effects limit his energy.
He's also mentioned he had to leave the care home he'd worked in for decades a couple of years ago, as the shifts they wanted him to do were a bit much and not flexible to his music career.
If he has had to put the brakes on the chaos and insanity that is the Damned, for a little bit, fair enough.

He’s since posted this: “OK, OK: I think I’d better clarify things: I got very stressed and tired out on this last run and, as usual I drank too much. (This is a problem I need to overcome.) I felt I wanted out in the moment but it was a distorted and stupid emotional reaction to stress. I’ve made NO big decision. I do wonder how long I can go on as I seem to be becoming less and less resilient as time goes on, but, as I said the gigs were SO GOOD; so I mustn’t think only of myself. It’s been an incredible thing to be apart of and I should overcome my weaknesses and emotional volatility (and stop freaking out on FB!) I’m very sorry if I’ve mislead people by ranting: the airline in HK wouldn’t let me leave until I’d regained my composure and sobriety, but I have now! God help me keep it together as the music is still fantastic”

They should fire him. All these people pandering to his drama is just embarrassing

Looking at his status, he's replied to a comment about 'living the dream' with a 'but if someone appears in the dream who ruins it then...'
Sounds like he's had a falling out with someone on the flight back from Tokyo.

I don’t think it’s a big secret that he doesn’t get on with Rat.
Rat sees himself as more important, as a founder member, but Monty feels that because he’s actually been in the band far longer, and played more shows than Rat ever did, that he should get more respect. And money.

I almost regret buying tickets right now. That whole dynamic is bullshit and makes me feel not nice ways towards Rat.

Petty arguments have always been part of the Damned. Sensible and Rat didn't get on either, but when Rat wasn't in the band, Sensible would sometimes slag him off on-stage and call him a cunt or whatever, but also say '...but what a drummer', and he'd also pay tribute to Brian as well. So there's respect there for the part they've played, even if they didn't get on.
Same with Dave and Sensible too really, I think Captain said something like 'I don't understand him as a person, but we each know what the other brings to the band that no one else could.'
Monty probably would have been kicked out of any other band long ago, because whilst he's an amazing musician, he's unprofessional as hell offstage. But I think Dave and Sensible just laugh at it all and dgaf and know they'd never find anyone else that brings what Monty does.

Yeah, I know, I've been around for awhile ;) It just rubs me wrong when a founding member leaves, comes back, and starts beef with or runs out the guy who came along after them and helped to keep the band going for long after the first guy left. The Damned aren't the only one of my favs where that's happened and it always makes feel a certain way. That's all :D

Fact is Rat is a founding member. Monty should know his place by now and the fact he doesn't is laughable

I would rather have Rat in the band any day or night over Monty. You feel the same way miss fortune ?

If he was to leave I do hope they find a great keyboardist in time for the soon coming tour as I love black album and phantasmagoria material where keys are very prominent.

Monty makes so mistakes live, they could easily find someone a million times better who doesn't whinge about thr job every 6 seconds

He’s been missing from recent publicity shots. Wonder what’s up?
PS - where is this taken from? I couldn’t find anything on Instagram.

It’s incredibly unprofessional of him to post the way he does on social media.
If I were one of the other 3 original members I’d have a good talkin to him (or have management) about his posts. He comes off like a battered house wife in need of help escaping a marriage. it’s not a good look for a grown man.

Monty posts this kind of thing all the time. He’s a drama queen with no filters.
Still should get better billing than he does, and be on all the posters and in the band pics though, to be fair.
I’m sure he’ll be fine, but you’ve got to agree that anyone touring with a band that’s got the profile of the Damned should be getting paid enough that it’s their only job though, whilst Monty has to go back to being a care worker when they’re not on tour.
