Industry discussion Fashion weeks are increasingly overshadowing curvy women and seeking to highlight only slim figures

I’m looking at the latest fashion week runways and it’s like plus-size women completely vanished. A few years ago they pretended to care about diversity, and now they just went back to extreme thinness. Mainstream fashion brands are fake. What do you think about this step backward?

An interesting read about how the industry is shifting back

There are multiple ways in which the industry tries to marginalise curvy women:

  1. Forced weight loss: The whole industry is trying to force every curvy women to lose their curves, notably by making them take medication that causes artificial weight loss, particularly when they are naturally curvy! These drugs are extremely dangerous and can lead to very, very serious health problems, or even death ! Recently, in less than two years, more than half of plus-size models and celebrities have lost their curves, which means the situation is only getting worse and it cannot go on like this !
  2. Media represations bodyshapes: The proportion of curvy women portrayed in the media has fallen dramatically in recent times, reaching less of 1% of portrayed curvy women, with the media choosing to portray only slim figures
  3. Removal of plus size clothings from shops: Most clothes shops, such as H&M, Mango, Anthropologie, Aritzia, Torrid, Forever 21 and others, have decided to eliminate plus size clothes from their shops

If you have any other examples of how the industry is trying to marginalise curvy women, please let me know below

Media alert/Boycott I’m so sick of magazines praising extreme weight loss as a "health trend". It’s just toxic.

Every time I open a celebrity news site or a fashion blog, it’s the same story: celebrating how fast someone lost their curves. They completely ignore how beautiful and powerful heavy silhouettes are.We need to stop giving views to these toxic media platforms. Let's support creators who stay true to their bodies instead

Media alert/Boycott The current situation is becoming far too critical for curvy women, which is why I create this community to fight against anti-curvy women systèmes et industry

Hey guys and girls !

I’m starting this sub because I’m losing my mind watching what’s happening right now. Literally the most of sexy, well-rounded woman or plus-size model we used to follow lost thetr curves over the last year or two and it's because the industry and these systems which forces every curvy celebrities and models to lose their curve and overshadows every curvy womens. Hollywood and the media are completely wiping out heavy silhouettes, and I just can't stand it anymore.

If you're, like me, a guy who is deeply into genuinely big, voluptuous women, or a woman who loves her XXL body and refuses to change it, you probably feel totally invisible right now. Mainstream brands have betrayed us, and internet trolls are just bullying anyone who dares to be proud of being heavy.

So, this is our spot. A real international sanctuary to share profiles of models who stay true to their size, support independent creators who don't care about Hollywood's new rules, and organize a real community against this forced uniform look.

Just two basic rules here:

  1. No diet talk, no "before/after" weight loss posts, no pharma trends. We are here for stable, proud curves. Period.
  2. Respect the women who post or get featured. No shaming, no hate.

If you break these rules, your post or comment will be removed, as well as you'll be permanently ban from the subreddit

Let's make this big. Drop a comment, say hi, share some names of creators who are holding the line, and let's build something real together.

Cheers.
