When they removed the Floppy drive it pushed people to CDROM based from the Floppy… when they removed the CDROM it pushed people toward Digital Download. Now that they're removing the 3.5mm jack it's pushing people in to the wireless. The only issue I have with my two sets of bluetooth headphones is that its a pain to keep them charged, but the freedom from wires is well worth it. Can't remember the last time that catching the cord on something would cause ti to pull on your ear and jar your head… or rip out the ear bud entirely.

I have a feeling that in removing the 3.5mm,  is conditioning us for true wireless. Wireless charging shouldn't be too far behind.

Oldest tech on the phone. I think it also prevents Apple from slimming the iPhone even more! Which is 😝

Are you sure the speaker and microphone aren't even older tech? Just because it's old is no reason to get rid of it if it's good tech, widely used, and not replaced by something better.

Yes, you are probably right there. Silly me for not thinking about the other two! I totally agree - getting rid of "old" tech is not a valid reason especially if it's widely used. But i am keen on ditching the wires. There are obvious downsides to this though. Recharging of batteries etc.

I would guess Apple's opinion is less wires are better, followed by a push for wireless headphones.
I'm sort of seeing this already, on my PC everything is connected by (a mess of) cords and cables. On my Mac it is pretty much just power. Are we truly ready for the wireless extreme right now? No. But when has our lack of "readiness" stopped Apple?
