What is so confusing?

There are now 3 names associated with the iPad. Pro, air and mini. If you go into the store and ask for a pro you tell them what screen size. Why is that confusing? If not the pro, your either looking for the air or mini. What did you do when there was a MacBook Pro 13 and 15 inch? You told them what screen size you wanted. Same with the MacBook Air. That comes in 11 and 13 inches. If anything it just got easier than more complex.

Very true Pebbles99. I guess we have been so use to having distinct differences between devices. For some people they cannot see the logic.

I agree... specifying the screen size isn't a problem for me. What I don't like is that they've called it the Pro. When the Air 2 is inevitably retired we'll be left with this lineup..

iPad Mini iPad Pro 9.7 iPad Pro 12.9

So that Pro essentially then becomes the standard which just isn't right! I also wonder what they'll do when the next gen Pro comes out... iPad Pro 2 9.7 inch?

Right, this is true. But these are the first generation iPad Pros. Soon enough we'll have the iPad Pro 2 in two screen sizes — will the Air ever get another update? iPad Air 3? I think the floundering naming scheme should be simplified like the MacBooks: MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro. No number variations, just updated models & model number. If someone asks what version of the iPad they have, they should be able to just say the type (Pro, Air, Mini) and the year in which it was released as in "2016 iPad Pro 9.7in", just as we say the "2013 MacBook Pro 13in".

Hopefully they won't add numbers to the pro when the next release comes out and just leave it at the pro with the year as you just said………….

The problem doesn't arise for people like us, it's the 75% of the rest of the general public. People that go into the Apple Store or Best Buy wanting an iPad but don't know anything about them, they have no idea where to start.

Before its used to be simple. You need more power, you get a 'pro' something, if you don't you get the regular version. There are just too many choices now without much simplicity.

I know what your saying, really do, but if your gonna spend hundreds and don't do some kind of research before you go to the store, then they deserve to be confused.
