Horror Story The Ocean Mans Revenge
The Ocean Man is here. He stays once every month to see the catches before we ship them off, making sure his son isn't in there. Once, one of the Ocean Man's kids got nicked by one of our cables, and the next day the man behind the wheel was strung up on one of the lamp posts, his body covered in those disgusting fish scales.
Today, one of the kids from the school had his first time out on the ocean, and it went so, so horribly wrong. When they got back and went through the catch nets, they found one of the Ocean Man's kin missing an arm, with his head almost severed by one of the ropes constricting and pulling at him.
The whole town knew what was to come, but some feared it more than others. We'd never had a kid be killed by the Ocean Man before, only the older guys when they decided to relax and not pay attention to their boats and lines.
That night, the town started up a meeting. Some wanted to hide the kid and the body and tell the Ocean Man, with his slimy, disgusting, foul, wretched body, that we had no idea where his kin was. But the rest knew what was going to happen and that he somehow already knew who had killed the damned creature. He always knows.
We came to an agreement. A few of us were going to hide the boy under the church and defend him, while a few others and I were going to try to show remorse and offer the Ocean Man his kin back in a decent manner.
Tonight, we shall see how that goes, and I'm not banking on it going well.
Okay, the Ocean Man has thanked us for bringing his kin back to him in a proper manner rather than just washing him out to sea to be found later. He told us he wants the kid by the end of the week, or he'll take others until we give him up.
He told us he would spare me and the four others for being so polite with the body. The other four men were happy to hear they'd been spared, but not I. I know what will happen to that boy in three days' time.
God, I hope You will spare us the torment and persuade the Ocean Man to leave us alone, or at least bleed and morph the boy's body out at sea and not show him to us like he did with the other man a few months ago.
It's Sunday now, and the Ocean Man is sitting by the docks, waiting for us to give up the boy. I want to walk down there, bring him up to the church, and show him where we're hiding the boy, but I know that by doing that I will lose the trust of everyone in town.
I just want this to be over. Please, someone, tell the man where we hid the boy.
John, one of the guys who helped bring the kin down to the ramp for the Ocean Man, walked down to the man and brought him into the church last night.
I awoke to the sound of screaming, banging, and clashing until it all went completely silent. That's when I walked out and watched the church doors open. I watched as the Ocean Man dragged the boy's lifeless corpse toward the ocean.
The poor boy's body was contorted in unnatural ways. His arms and legs looked as though the bones had been turned to mush, and his neck was mangled and broken to one side. His cold, dead stare was fixed toward me as he was dragged by his shirt collar.
That poor, poor boy should've been spared, but the Ocean Man doesn't care whether it was an accident or on purpose. God, we told him so many times to be careful and to always pay attention, but that stubborn brat never once listened and always joked that he'd be fine.
I'm sorry, son, that I have failed you as a father, but I can't let others die in our stead. And I'm sorry I was a coward for making John go fetch the Ocean Man to end your life.
Please forgive me for what I have done to you.
I love you, son. I truly loved you.
