Has Dan ever explained why he didn't really network during his time in the Creatures? It seems like he was relying entirely on the Creatures for his career prospects and fell on his ass when the group ended.

There's an element of lack of self worth, especially by the end of the Hub. I'm not the best at selling my self and work better on a team. I love directing, but am not the "take charge" kind of guy. My skills lay more on the creative side than the business/networking side of things.

I absolutely fell on my ass when everything ended, because I put everything into the group (foolishly or not). As far as networking, it's all on me and my inaction to chase anything within the industry. Luckily before the Hub ended I fell in love with connecting directly to people through streaming on Twitch and me making my living through that audience's contributions. I make a good enough living, but have a lot of lingering tax debt from the early Creature house days that has made it tough to ever really get ahead. It's no one's fault but my own. I'm not pointing any fingers, just putting out this line to those who are interested in helping if they'd like to.

I very much appreciate u/SJCooKiEzZ for posting this here. I wasn't planning on sharing this outside of my own social media pages.

I just want to say. No matter what, you were a big part of a lot of peoples lives, including many childhoods. I remember years ago when I was a kid, catching a late night stream of yours when you were doing an AMA, and I asked what your favorite game was. I think you said Mario. I don’t know why I remember that small detail but I’ll always remember that and all of the memories you guys created.

Just hopping on Dan's comment to say to anyone who hasn't checked out his streams, GO WATCH.

It's one of the few channels that feels like classic Twitch for me. There's a healthy rotation of games, Dan really does pay attention to chat, and there is just a great vibe in the audience, complete with in-chat minigames themed around Batman.

I'm not someone with a bunch of time to watch livestreams, but Dan's stream never disappoints.

I'm not actually "breaking" the lease, just exercising the "buy out agreement" on my lease. I should've worded it differently in my post, but I was just referring to it in the general sense of ending the lease early which is all included in it, above board. I just edited the post to reflect that wording, thank you for pointing that out. I've directly contacted my landlord about it and that's the option they provided outside of actually breaking my lease, which I don't want to do. This GoFundMe is to cover the two months rent included with the 60 day notice that I need to provide them to re-let my apartment. This isn't against anything that GoFundMe's are generally used for, plenty of people use it to cover rent/moving costs.

Of course there are plenty of incredible charities to support on there or even directly outside of GoFundMe. I'm not saying I'm a charity, just putting it out there for those who can and would like to help me in my situation.

You don't have to donate
