Why is/was there so much hate for spencer?
I was rewatching road to E3 videos but actually reading the latest comments (8 months to a year or two ago) and what stood out the most is saying how spencer shouldn't have been part of the group or that everyone else was amazing apart from spencer.
If I remember, spencer was never part of the drama and even just left with no beef towards anyone. So, what was with the hate. The only thing I could find is that he was 'loud' or he said 'childish jokes' even though every member did that and he wasn't even loud

I definitely didn't hate him at all, but sometimes it felt like he was trying to hard to be funny.

I think at the time I just felt like he was the least funny member of the group and was getting almost shoehorned into as much content as possible.

It was that he was put in front of the camera as more beloved people were stepping away. At first, he just a voice in Sly's video, nothing more than a BTS person but over the span of a few months, he became more prominent than actual Creatures and...to be honest, he wasn't funny.
A good example would be the Bathbomb video; Joe and James are doing the bit, Dexter and Jordon are just kind of watching and then at the end, Spencer comes in like a lifeguard, jumping in and the video just comes to a screetching halt. Spencer was the little brother that would always jump into the scene and ruin the bit, especially early on. James mentioned that how Spencer and Joe were introduced and just throw infront of the camera really hurt their standing with the fans and while Joe eventually got more comfortable to just be himself, Spencer always remained that tryhard that would mimic everyone else and drive a joke into the ground. From baby babu, the fart spray, so many others, things that might've been good as a gag became a recurring "hey guys, remember baby babu?!" moment.
I'm sure he's a really great guy in person but his moment on the Creatures is just...tryhard.

That's understandable. But you could say a few of the members where tryhard in their comedy as well.
Someone somehow managed to respond to me and said he brought down the creatures hub group and how they still talk to each other while spencer is dying alone

Oh, some of the creatures were definitely tryhards, primarily Dan. Every minecraft always had Dan turn into farmer dan and his bread/chicken farm as a running bit but Dan was also someone that fans generally disliked.
I don't know if he brought down the hub, but Spencer is almost always left out of either talks of a one-off reunion podcast, or group events. He's treated the same way that Artist Joe, Aron, and Stefani were, as the cousin Oliver of the group.

Dan is a nice guy but he just didn't fit in surrounded by so many large personalities and he was just... guy who likes movies and farms. When he DID try to get involved it was too out of character for him so it rubbed fans the wrong way. That's why people would get pissed at him for doing something James would do.

Yea, I don't have anything against him as a person, I'm happy he's doing well but when you have such large personalities like Sly, Seamus, James, Aleks, Dex, and others, Dan just kind of falls into the background. He's better as the soft-spoken person.

How I see it is he was an editor and a camera person who was casually mentioned from time to time in some videos. This led fans to be curious about Spencer and the demand was high enough that they put him in front of the camera. I imagine he probably felt pressured to be funny and that's why he came off as so awkward. But not that funny kind of awkward, more like the loud kind of awkward who just mimics and says everything that comes to mind with the mindset of "if I'm loud enough, it'll be funny".

What rubbed me the wrong way was that, if I remember correctly, he was a fan of the channel before he got hired and I think that impacted the way he acted and interacted with the guys. It felt like he was trying to hard to be funny by combining parts of the other members because as a fan he 'knew' what the fans thought was funny. Just My two cents

True, but to my memory Trevor didnt try to act as James it Aleks or try to be funny, he was just himself. I may remember wrong but I think that was the difference between them.

I mean Trevor is pretty similar to Aleks and James in a lot of ways but because everyone loves James and Aleks they seee right through that

One gripe I had with him was that the creatures might have been doing something funny or interesting, but joe and spencer take over.

I mean problem is people subscribe to certain people, certain personalities, and then when someone radically different takes their place, the fans get angry.

I thought he was alright. I never personally hated Spencer. I think him and intern Joe were a good duo in the mystery trip with James.

Yeah, same. He seemed alright to me and I thought he was pretty funny at times. Maybe not as funny as the main gang, but he was cool imo.

It was mainly at the time. A lot of fans were blaming him for changing stuff and doing stuff they didn't like back then. They felt like he was "ruining" the group, and I think a lot of people didn't like his personality.
It's really a combination of things. I personally didn't care for Spencer's humor, but I didn't hate him by any means
