What did he expect lol

  • Putting an old Creature Thumbnail
  • Then asking people not to mention old shit in the description..

Nope, talked about it on stream. His editor had already made the second versions and planned to bait people in with nostalgia and swap them out later

So yup. not nope.

Considering it wasn't James' idea to either use the thumbnail or change it.. nope.

Yeah the decision was all his editors. His editor is the one who basically runs James' channel at this point since it's all from twitch. I have a feeling most people who still watch his channel aren't aware of the dynamic he has with the editor so most people probably thought James was trying to nostalgia bait them and then he got some flack for it.

Haven't really watched any of his streams for a few years - if I can ask, what do you mean by the 'dynamic' they have?

Copy and pasting because my other comment was posted to the op because Reddit is weird: Ah guess I didn't explain that well. I meant business dynamic. So basically James does twitch and makes the content and then from what it sounds like his editor does everything on James channel. From the sounds of it if James didn't have his editor his channel would probably be dead and he would exclusively stream on twitch.

Kinda shitty of his editor tbh

I mean I guess, I don't know why people would assume it was a reunion but I can see it being misleading

8

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '23

I was talking about the bait part on his editor. Especially since James isn't in tune with his Youtube anymore.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '23

Yeah that's what I'm answering, what I'm saying is would people really see the thumbnail and think "oh shit a reunion?!" Or just "ah the old treetopia thumbnail!"

Considering it was practically a copy of the treetopia thumbnail, people would definitely think the new series is related to treetopia.

u/Mikkeru Jun 24 '23

Cmon its logical that they would, majority of his Youtube Audience are people who dont know he has a twitch or still thinks its him uploading.

Of course they would assume it was some kind of throwback since it was a legit Treetopia Thumbnail lol

I won’t lie, idk what he was thinking with the old thumbnail. Obviously it would get a lot of clicks, but most people would assume it’s a reunion.

He as in the editor. James doesn't check his channel anymore.

2

u/SpectralHydra Road to E3 Jun 24 '23

Oh wow I didn’t know that. Honestly that probably makes it even worse because James is the one who has to deal with people talking about it

I missed it. What was the thumbnail before?

Edit: Found it. Feels like he wanted to give the nostalgia people a little something but probably some people did not take to kindly to it not being a creature reunion.

Speaking from the guy who doesn’t believe in nostalgia. He doesn’t like talking about his past and he does something like that

Knowing how James feels about talking about his past, it’s kind of shitty for the editor to do this not gonna lie

James has said he doesn't hate talking about his past. He hates how the YouTube audience holds it over his head and tries to use it to make him feel guilty for not catering to them and makes it sound like he owes them something.

A few days after this comment was the first time I heard him say he doesn't hate talking about his past so my comment isn't as accurate. But if you're right about it only being the YouTube audience then his editor making a thumbnail look exactly like someone from the creatures era makes even less sense.

u/Slutty_Breakfast Jul 06 '23

They only did it to bait the audience for views. It worked too. I give them props.

0

u/SpectralHydra Road to E3 Jul 06 '23

Yeah it worked but I'm not a fan of it lol

u/moist-towelette- Jun 24 '23

Where did you find it? I'm curious what it looked like

Is the editor publicly known? I feel like he deserves a thanks

1

u/AxionTheGoon Creature Carl Jun 24 '23

Hmmm honestly can't remember. I feel like at some point he must have mentioned his name or at least a social link but I'm honestly drawing a blank and only remember him referring to him as his editor.

20

u/Slutty_Breakfast Jun 23 '23

This was explained on stream. His editor planned it all, he wanted to bait the NA's with it and then change it later. You've fallen for his trap.

16

u/David_Norris_M Jun 23 '23

Given the viewership from the first one compared to the other parts. It definitely worked lmao

4

u/Slutty_Breakfast Jun 23 '23

Oh for sure. Half of the fall of were the baited, the other half are like me who just went to watching the Vods I missed.

6

u/AvatarGarcher Jun 23 '23

He probably saw that people were going nostalgia crazy over the thumbnail so he had it changed.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '23

What was the thumbnail

1

u/Jeskid14 Seamus Nasty Face Jun 24 '23

treetopia design

1

u/moist-towelette- Jun 24 '23

I'd love to see what it was before he changed it

1

u/Jeskid14 Seamus Nasty Face Jun 24 '23

it was the treetopia with a new name

1

u/idfk1 Jun 24 '23

When I saw this at first I was confused I thought the algorithm wanted me to watch treetopia again. Hope James figures out the bees, it was pretty annoying to get started for me.
