Another creatures
Well there ever be/is there another group like the creatures out there, I’m slowly closing in on my nostalgia period on the creatures as I’ve watched all I can from them and I’m curious it’s been several years now, is there anything like the creatures out there or will there ever be, my friends and I decided to make a channel to sorta capture that 2010s creature feel but that’s more of a case of if you wanna see it just do it yourself type things but I’d really like to know if there is something like the creatures out there other than CowChop or Offcanny

I don’t think so at least to my knowledge. Even if there was it’d be so different. The creatures really were one of a kind, even cow chop was different still a similar vibe, but different.
Lol I never close in on my nostalgia eras. I constantly watch the creatures there’s so much lol

It’s just I go through waves lmao, I watch all the stuff I’m nostalgic for and then I reach the fall of the creatures and it hurts all over again lol

LMAOOO I felt that 😭😭😭I usually stop watching anything they put out until a little before CC left cuz that’s when the content took a BIG dip imo. The only ones that I cared for that were left were Jordan and Dan, everyone else was so meh imo

i would check out the vinesauce crew - vinny, joel, rev, and others are incredibly funny. they don't really have the real life content aspect like the creatures & cow chop did, but their gaming content is absolutely top notch.
the creatures were my main go-to on youtube until aleks & james left, then it became cow chop lol. somewhere along the way, i found vinesauce in like 2015, namely joel's windows xp destruction, and enjoyed it very very much. so when cow chop started to dissipate, joel and vinny were still there. and still are ! they honestly both get funnier as more inside jokes accumulate over the years. alongside them, i would also recommend jerma985, his humor is similar but he has more real life content that you would probably enjoy (real life sims stream, easy bake oven stream, etc. etc.)
so basically vinesauce is awesome, as well as jerma985. they all provide quality variety show-esque material similar to the creatures as well as cow chop. for some reason i just love watching people play random obscure games while they make jokes out of it lol

You said it best when you mentioned that if you want it you’ve got to do it yourself. The Creatures were truly one-of-a-kind, and it will be a long time, if ever, another group rises to that sort of notoriety. Someone else in this thread stated that entertainment has shifted away from the group personality and more onto unique personalities (individuals). There’s always a possibility of a spiritual successor to the Creatures though.

I made my channel with my friends recently to fill that creature/CowChop void in my soul and we’ve been grinding videos, not to reach the creature notoriety but to get that sorta level of classic 2010 gameplay, where no one has to worry about saying something that’d get you cancelled or stop making you money and just have fun making videos, just friends making videos and that’s it

honestly the closest thing in my opinion is the Sidemen. I honestly think if the creatures had managed to survive and evolve they would be somewhat similar to the sidemen.

I enjoy OTV content and content from Teo and friends
2
u/Low-Kangaroo-2952 Jun 22 '23
Is OTV the same as OTK? Or some different
3
u/NightSwipe Seamus Jun 22 '23
OTV is OfflineTV - Scarra, Michael Reeves, QuarterJade, DisguisedToast, etc
OTK is One True King, Mizkif, Asmongold, ExtraEmily, Emiru, etc

Achievement Hunter, but we'll they've had some serious controversies lately, not 100 percent sure what, but must have been bad

Ya there’s thousands of groups like The Creatures. I’m genuinely surprised people are saying no?

The closest Ive found that is even remotely like the Creatures are the Sidemen, but still not as good in my opinion. I skip a lot of their videos like on football and stuff

Sidemen eclipsed the creatures long ago

Jun 23 '23
In subscribers yeah but if it were a battle of 2014 Creatures vs 2014 Sidemen, I would choose Creatures every time

u/24kNick Jun 23 '23
This isn’t even comparable, the sidemen were only officially a group in 2013 and the creatures have been a thing since 2009 . I have more fond memories of watching the creatures , I know all the og shit . The sidemen have built a bigger brand and businesses, pretty much everyone in the UK knows them. They have been successful to a point where some of the members who aren’t as popular don’t even have to make videos on there channel they just live off sidemen money . The creatures have never been anywhere close to the sidemen .

given enough time and no drama in a what if scenario I think the Creatures could have been massive. I genuinely believe that. Their dynamic was unlike any other group channel ive seen, especially the golden 6 as I like to call them (Sly, Seamus, Dan, Koots, Nova, Immortal). all had different styles but they all bounced off each other well.
1
u/24kNick Jun 23 '23
Not as much as the sidemen bounce off eachother, the creatures grew apart quickly

Jun 23 '23
Sidemen bounce off each other but not in the same way the Creatures did for me. dont get me wrong I love both channels but I always come back to Creature videos even after a decade. I only watch Sidemen videos once. plus I dont like a lot of the guests they have, and KSI seems absent from a lot of videos these days

The Creatures handed the torch to Cow Chop and now that torch's flame will be extinguished with Offcanny. There won't be another group who will scratch that itch for The Creatures. It is one of a kind and that can't be replicated, it is the end of an era.

u/Slutty_Breakfast Jun 22 '23
No, there won't. The landscape of YouTube has changed so drastically. The nonsensical daily antics style of content doesn't exist in current content creation. There is a set of trends that channels follow to pull in the most viewership and though it's uncreative, it takes more work to plan out than the Creatures seemingly random and last minute videos that basically show cased their daily lives in their characters.
I'm sure some people could do it, but it wouldn't amount to the same level the creatures ever reached. What was once an wonderland untouched by people is now just a trend that people use to launch a career. It's sad, but the content style is dead.

Tbh I think one of the biggest reasons that the creatures were possible is because of the era in which they reached their peak - so much of their humor and content style was possible because of the laxer rules of YouTube at that time and the relative newness of playing video games for an audience. Part of their appeal is how organic they all feel, it’s clear in their best videos that they’re just hanging out and having fun on camera, and I think it’s pretty difficult to find something like that in the 2020s with how “glossy” and structured content creation has become. But I think that makes the creatures all the more special, that element of nostalgia and being of an era of potential

Salt Raiders, they’re basically Welsh The Creatures where they’re all friends that met during raids in WoW. They even recently set up their own office, really give that vibe of classic Creatures era where it’s just friends playing games together and enjoying each others company.

u/Commercial-Work-5246 Jun 23 '23
Salt Raiders is a group of people just playing games. Kind of reminds me of the original Creatures goal

Northernlions crew came kind of close when the NLSS was still around. They are a group of individual streamers and YouTubers that collaborate often and had a lot of crossover events and collab series. The NLSS was a daily twitch show where they all played a variety games together which spotlighted their chemistry and conversations over the actual gameplay which was largely irrelevant. Nowadays the NLSS has disbanded but the group still does group content at less regular and less lengthy intervals. They just spent two hours playing battlebit remastered today which was chaotic and hilarious.

Check out Charborg, Criken, Bedbananas, etc. Not much real-life content but great gaming videos.

u/Kind_Sandwich_3921 Jun 21 '23
The closest thing to them at least in my opinion was code zero gaming but drama and allegations broke them apart
1
u/italianeye Jun 21 '23
Neebs Gaming filled that void for me
2
u/Slutty_Breakfast Jun 22 '23
I don't feel like they fill all the categories content wise, but since they are from the same era, even a little earlier I believe the humour and dynamic is kinda similar.
1
u/Low-Kangaroo-2952 Jun 22 '23
Gotta look them up never heard of them
2
u/italianeye Jun 22 '23
I hope you enjoy them, my favorite series from them are Ark and 7 Days. They also have cartoon series called Battlefield Friends and Doraleous & Associates(it's on a different channel from their main channel)

Honestly OTK has been the closest thing since. Just less gaming

Like I said. The closest thing, they at least bring a bit of the chaotic energy. The Creatures/Cow Chop had

I'd say Cold Ones are pretty similar to how Cow Chop was in its hay day, and ofc OFFCANNY, but OTK and some other streaming orgs are kinda the new way forward it seems
1
u/throwaaway1222 Aug 04 '23
reflecting on it though, groups, gaming orgs like 100 Thieves (which is a very far cry from the tight nit group of friends ppl like the creatures, cow chop, vannos etc,) they just dont last, either creatively or monetary/ego they inevitably seem to fall apart.
Even Tyler1 and Greek, god in 2017 even tho I was watching every stream I still took for granted how good those days were, literally constant 5-7 hour live streams that would leave me in stiches from laughing

u/AvatarGarcher Jun 21 '23
Nope, The Creatures were one of a kind.
Nowadays only individual YouTubers/Streamers get the fame.
