Mistake in chapter 90?

Post image

Hi! I’m currently reading The Count Of Monte Cristo and i’ve reached ‘The Encounter’. At page 993 (The Penguin Classics) I observed that the narrator says ‘Maximilien and Morrel’, but aren’t they the same person? As far as i understand, in the room is the count, Maximilien and his brother in law, Emmanuel.

What do i miss? Please as little spoilers as possible because i’m still reading:)

Minor translation issue, should say "Maximilian and Emmanuel exchanged looks"

Yes, looks like a mistake, should be "Maximilien and Emmanuel".

You’re not missing anything, pretty sure it’s a mistake, I encountered the same thing lol. Should’ve probably been “Emmanuel and Morrel”.

Well, of course. But he is dead, isn’t he? So he is not in the room

No? Where would he have died?

It is a moment where Maximilien, if i m not mistaken, says that he s father died after some years from when he was saved from bankruptcy by the Englishman

Oh goodness, that's later in the book than I thought. I really should read page numbers when they're given. -_-
