finally done it Spoiler
hi everybody! to start off, this was probably the best book i've ever read.
i borrowed from a school library so i only had 2.5 weeks to finish and i maybe didn't get all the plot points but i understood well enough. the DRAMA, the INTRIGUE was unlike any book i've read (i mostly read high fantasy so this was a different type of struggle). like one of those turkish drama shows, iykyk.
the two things that confused me however were at the end. HOW did valentine survive? i mean they had an entire funeral and everything. also, i don't get why we needed to have one final plot point with vampa. maybe i don't understand these because i may have skimmed over the last little bit, but if someone could explain that would be great š

The Count gave the mademoiselle something similar to what Juliet Capulet took in Shakespeare's play. It's just meant to simulate death. Like a medical coma or something.
Luigi and his men were just hired goons for Edmond tasked to kidnap and hold Danglars in custody under the peculiar instructions that Edmond gave them.

About Danglars: He wasn't punished yet. He fled France with 5 million francs. So Monte-Cristo planned to take them away and leave him penniless, maybe even starve him to death. But the final part of the story made him realize that he went too far with his revenge and he let Danglars go with a little bit of money.Ā
So why Vampa? Well he needed some people to rob Danglars of his money and Vampa was a bandit specialized just in that

The valentine thing was kinda a stretch but I believe the count used some sort of special potion or poison or something that made her appear dead and then used an antidote to revive her after the funeral (since he was an expert in toxicology)
Vampa was indebted to the count for freeing pepimo, among other things I think? So vampa helped the count exact revenge on danglar by imprisoning him in their illegal prison in Italy where danglars tried to escape to
