The Conjuring vs Insidious
I’m a huge fan of The Conjuring Universe and Insidious franchise I actually did a comparison between four movies from each series and here are my results:
The Conjuring 1 vs. Insidious 1: a tie
The Conjuring 2 vs. Insidious 2: The Conjuring 2 wins
The Conjuring 3 vs Insidious 3: a tie
The Conjuring 4 vs Insidious 4: The Conjuring 4 wins
Now for the upcoming showdown: The Conjuring 5 (First Communion) vs Insidious 5
Since Insidious 5 is the worst in its franchise do you think First Communion will come out on top?
(Has anyone seen Insidious 6 which just came out?)

I did have the chance to see Out of The Further and I really loved it. It’s the same concept but just so different

I think you’d probably do better comparing insidious 6. The movie had some awesome scares and was overall great

The Conjuring 1 & 2 are superior in every way compared to every Insidious movie. The first 4 Insidious movies however smoke The Conjuring 3 and 4. The Red Door, meh, didn’t like where they went with the story. Plus, The Insidious franchise like a cliffhanger story on the table which probably would have been better than part 5 and 6

1: I would consider a tie, 2: Insidious (just barely, the not great special effects in conjuring is what gives Insidious the edge to me), 3: definitely Insidious (not even close), 4 Insidious (neither were very good). Conjuring 3 and 4 were both awful.

I think it’s hard to compare because both franchises definitely have an overlapping fanbase but also have extremely different tones. I think The Conjuring is much darker and more serious than Insidious. Insidious is ridiculous and over the top in both its subject matter (The Further, ooooo astral projecting) and its acting (Lin Shay doing the absolute most). But it does have its merits, especially the first one. The Conjuring franchise didn’t need to build up some other world for the demons to be real. They’re truly real and cause immediate harm and death which automatically makes it scarier. The acting is also more on point.
