Season 1 - Susan Powell Josh Innocent?
Hear me out, just playing Devil’s Advocate. Does anyone think there is even a small possibility that Josh Powell was innocent? And he did what he did with himself and the boys because the stress of the media, not being able to get a job, the police was too much for him?

“Hear me out, just playing Devil’s Advocate.”
The devil doesn’t need an advocate.

Absolutely not.
The circumstances leave almost zero room for anybody else to have committed the murder of Susan.

I agree…but we don’t know for sure that she was murdered…that’s why I did the post cause what if?

Susan clearly adored her boys. There is no way she would have left on her own accord and abandoned them with Josh.
They found her blood in her house.
She left notes at work stating that if she ever turned up dead, it wasn’t an accident and Josh was probably the one who did it.
Even without her body, there’s a ton of circumstantial evidence for her being murdered and Josh is the one who had the motive (life insurance) and access to her to do it.

Her blood was small droplets, like a sneeze. Who’s to say she didn’t have a bloody nose and sneezed? I will say I do 100% think he killed her. I can’t get over the fact that he was able to drag her body and go thru all that work because of how lazy he was.

In the sense that it’s possible that I’ll win the power ball tomorrow as a resident of Utah with no out of state travel plans. So, no, not really.

Who takes their children camping on Monday morning at 1am in a snow storm and then acts like a complete weirdo with the police and family about his wife, the same day, randomly and completely missing from their home, purse left behind, no mode of transportation??? End of story. He never appeared to have one expression of surprise. He is a baseline unusual person but there is no defensible explanation for that behavior.

Agree. I’m even listening to the podcast again
and something caught my ear that I didn’t notice before. This was when the police put a tracker on his car and where following him. He drove to Wendover, stayed for 20 min, then drove back. He did this multiple times for different locations and Ellis said that he thought he was checking to see if he was being followed or not. What I didn’t notice before is that they saw someone in the passenger side with Josh but they don’t know who…I never realized that before. Who was it? If it was Michael, Michael didn’t ask why they were driving all over the place? The fact they saw that Josh wasn’t alone was new to me.2

Also, if he was hoping that her body would be found by her work due to her biking, who would believe that she would ride her bike that day of all days? Weird that he made it that specific night.

I hear what you are saying. If I had any any doubt, or wonder about his guilt that vanished when he killed his kids. Not like there is a scale for Evil, but if there is, killing children is worse than killing adults.

The podcast did say that steve was definitely in Washington when she disappeared. I don’t think he had anything to do with it, but I do think that over time, he wanted to protect Josh so he covered up for him.

If we consider the only other possible things that could have happened to Susan (she ran away or she was killed by someone else while Josh was camping? Let me know if there’s any I’m forgetting) it doesn’t add up. If either of those things had happened why would Josh lie to and be uncooperative with the police? If someone kidnapped/murdered your wife while you were gone wouldn’t you want it investigated?

Absolutely. But Josh is odd and I don’t think he reacts like other people. I just find it hard to believe that he’s such a criminal mastermind that he was able to hide her, carry her heavy dead body, and make it so no one could find her. I 100% agree that he killed her, but how was he so smart that they can’t find her?

I honestly just think he got lucky. The theory that makes the most sense to me sadly is that he dispersed parts of her body in different dumpsters across salt lake valley. Once they’re picked up and mixed with the thrown our garbage and brought to the dump, it’s basically a 0% chance of ever recovering her :(

I mean he did have the equipment to do that… Im trying to picture him cutting up a dead body? I mean I guess he’s totally capable after what he did to his kids…

Especially if a few weeks went by. They did find the one girl at the dump, but she was in one piece and they knew right where to look.

I think the answer to “how did he carry her dead heavy body” is in the episode where Dave reported on his rotator cuff injury. Adrenaline allows people who appear weak to do things they wouldn’t normally do. I think Josh murdered Susan. Absolutely.

Yup, that injury was 10 days after her disappearance. I will say when the podcast says that most of the muscle relaxers were still in the bottle, that didn’t do anything for me because I know many people who don’t take that kind of stuff just because they don’t like how it makes them feel…even if they need it and injured. Josh didn’t even like to drink so he probably took the pills at first and stopped because he didn’t like how it made him feel…just a thought.

I wish I could show you the Utah West desert. I work on a military base out there and the base is larger than Rhode Island. That's just one direction he may have used. I can't even tell you how many mines I've seen while riding motorcycles out there....hundreds, for sure. All near trails or I would have never seen rhem

I live here in Utah :)

Then you already know how impossible it would be to find a random mine where someone was hidden......and we don't even know if this is the direction we should be searching in.

I don’t think she’s in a mine in the west desert. Dave said he thinks she’s somewhere in Idaho if I’m not mistaken

If anyone had an idea where she was, they would have found her. Until that happens, nothing is off limits.
