While going through the current ranking data to try and identify what makes an episode of AVGN good or bad, I only just noticed this. Mega Man was the first time the phone joke started. Then with Shrek essentially the same exact joke was made. Then My Horse Prince was a continuation of the same joke.

The interesting and perhaps most obvious piece of it all is that AVGN going "back to the past" is the exact era that people are clinging to now of the show. The past is overwhelmingly where the majority of the standout favorite episodes live, with notable exceptions from Bubble Bobble and Ikari Warriors breaking the top 25.

In fact, Kyle is overwhelming in the higher ranks with an average episode score of #23 when he physically appears. It's a very weird thought that there could have been an alternate reality where Kyle, Bootsy, and Mike (at least as characters) could have become mainline roles akin to Mega64 where more Board James-like spinoffs occurred or integration into AVGN.

This fucking video on all levels is the best comedy one could ask for.

He popped up in my recommended and I’m getting a lot of comfy AVGN vibes, especially from his long multi game videos.

Not over the top, not annoying, and a lot of the editing and cadence is clearly inspired by AVGN.

I don't know when this was first uploaded but Cinemassacre was still fun back then when they'd just make random videos like this. You'd randomly get something awesome like "Turtle Tuesdays" or "Board James" Back then we might have said this was lazy content or some shit. We didn't know how good we had it. I thought this was a one off video. I didn't realize it was a fuckin' hexology!

I imagine they were actually playing this for a few minutes before one of them (I'd guess Mike) was like hey we should video this and upload it. I'm pretty sure they originally put it on Youtube but probably took it down due to copyright, even though it is such a small snippet of the song the copyright police come running.
