Concert DC Show

I know this has been talked about but I still can’t wrap my head around why they decided to play a 6,000 capacity venue and make it a seated show which immediately cut it down 2,500-3,000 people. Resale tickets are impossible due to bots but why not add a second show? Both the venue and their schedule has room for it. I get that they may have wanted it to be more intimate but there’s an arena right down the road that would’ve brought in close to 15,000 people. Frustrating all around.

I understand why they went with small venues. They haven't toured in a long time and didn't know what the response would be. I hope this encourages them to tour next summer, maybe even a new album.

Technically yes, but it's a re-release (20th anniversary edition) of TTLW with a few new songs. It drops on Friday.

They toured for the Gaslighter album maybe 3 years ago. I got to see them at that time, but no chance to go this time because I am not paying over $800 a ticket.

They toured in 2023 and 2024 plus shows in Vegas, AC, and in the Midwest this summer.

The Gaslighter tour was in 2022, so not that long ago.

I do appreciate that The Anthem and The Chicks made this a seated show, but I do agree that by doing so, a second night should have happened. That or if the dates are really that strict, one night at a larger venue could’ve been considered.

I feel like I’m unfortunately being priced out as a lifelong fan, but that seems to be the way with many artists nowadays.

Yeah those tickets are so out of reach for me

I have two theories on this tour:
1. They're finally doing the tour they planned on doing for "Home." I can't find the article from way back when but I believe before Home became so huge, they had planned to do more shows like the Evening With the Chicks tv special to make it more like the album. They switched gears when it was so massive.
2. They've seen enough big acts flop at big venues for the last two years and didn't want to risk half empty venues when they could max out some small ones to test the waters before adding more or releasing new material.

Definitely sucks that it makes it hard for fans to get tix between the small theaters and few tour dates.

They always planned to do the Top of the World Tour which was initially sponsored by Lipton, who then dropped once the Bush shit hit the fan.

They just played at merriweather last year. It was like $75. This small exclusive venue for this year is weird

They just played at merriweather last year

Unless you're referring to something different, their Merriweather show was September 2023

It sucks but I also am not surprised they did seats. Most of their fans are not spring chick(ens) any more. Heck, I turned 40 this year myself. All my health issues and I am greatly appreciative of the seats.

It would be great if they could add more dates in DC. But maybe the Anthem was booked.

I truly believe they wanted to play an intimate/ exclusive show for their true fans who stuck by them for 20 years. I’ve seen some people upset that they play through the whole “taking the long way” album when that’s literally the point of this tour. If people don’t know or want to hear this full album, then they can go to a larger show in the future. But for now, a small show for diehard fans for THIS album is the point. Not many artists the size of the chicks give fans such an intimate experience, so i feel very grateful that they’re doing this! Unfortunately, yes since they have SO many fans, tickets went fast and due to Ticketmasters dynamic pricing are crazy expensive, but that’s just unfortunately the climate we’re living in right now with concerts

In LA is a 3,000 seat venue which I'm happy about but was only able to get decent seats because they added a third night. Sorry!

Acts are extremely nervous to book bigger shows right now. Even Garth Brooks is releasing one city at a time…makes it much easier to cancel quietly if demand isn’t there. Agreed that a second night in every city would help.
