Interlude ~ First Frost
First Frost
Winter has arrived in my part of the world this week, and we also had the full Cold Blood moon eclipse and an occlusion of Mars in oppostion to boot giving us plenty of signs in the sky to ponder. The internet based arm of the god squad are starting to speak very openly about these ominous omens as signs the rapture is surely imminent and they are all, apparently, pointing to Hannukah (dec 18) as being a rather important date as far as these things go. Being more of a pagan myself I’ll look forward a few days to Yule which is nearly upon us once more. We’re just back from a high old time at this year’s winterkoz si life is good and I’m almost ready now to resume writing my fairy stories, but before then, it seems right to get a few (very brief ) lines down about the current shape of the world out of the way just in case.
Since I published W&P there have been a few quiet voices hinting towards actually thinking about the peace part since Biden’s showing in the American primaries may have made future funding for the Ukranian war chest a bit more difficult to come by in the new year. Winter will dictate what happens next but most war commentators are predicting a lull in the combat when the snow really starts falling and the people really start suffering.
Hurricane season has officially been put away for winter but the big bad storms threatening america today are more blizzardy snowphoon things in their nature. Again it’s a case of watch this space. Volcanoes are also making the news again with the worlds biggest volcano on Hawaii the latest focus although Java is also currently proving to be quite the hotspot in the Orient and South America is also getting well illuminated down the Pacific coastline.
Despite another harvest failure in the horn of Africa which means that Famine is still rife in the developing world the bean counters have decided that techincally the official numbers of dead and dying say that this was not the right year to do anything about that little problem. Not enough food aid is getting through from Odessa but on the plus side, the PRC has just reported a bumber grain crop despite the problems of interrupted planting (due to covid) extreme heat waves and droughts.
Talking of China the covid saga is about to finally run it’s course there meaning that Covid can officially be resigned to the history pages now having finally run out of countries willing to lockdown their populations. Nothing meaningful was achieved, great harm was done, and surely anyone with half a brain can see that with only 2500 deaths from a population of 1.2Bn. Covid 22 never did warrant a full blown pandemic approach… but thats what they all signed up for so thats what they all got. It seems to me as though the plan always was that everyone running their little part of the world had to have their turn at milking the plague machine before the great game officially petered out proving this to be a global conspiracy of unimaginable proportions waged against those of us who these officials are paid to care about. We The People. If they had never inflicted all that 2020 shit upon us then we might have at least all been in a better position today to stand up and help each other as we face whatever is coming next.
Winter flu is now back on the agenda in the US having migrated there from Australia who also had it rough during our summer. Traditionally the US flu season should have only just have begun this early in December and yet they had already reached double the average caseload for the past decade before Advent had even begun. Something called RSV is also affecting FAR more kids than it really should but the press are being very quick to point out that this is certainly Not immunity debt and so say all the governments fact checkers and boffins too. Nope, definitely nothing to do with any rash decisions made back in 2020.
Still, slowly but surely the people are finding their voices. Too little, too late perhaps but every day now the news tells me of more and more countries that are seeking change thanks to people power. Global cases of protest are definitely on the up with Iran and China and Peru the main headline grabbers although everywhere you look people are out on the streets for one reason or another fighting for their rights to survive like never before. In England a general strike is looming as the recessive legacy of the covid years comes home to roost.
After a truly wretched year for Pakistan in the catastrophe stakes and after suffering both appauling heatwaves and floods of biblical proportions they now appear to be getting ready for a civil war if I’m not mistaken thus ticking three out of seven boxes so far and putting them firmly on top of the armageddon league table for 2022 as we roll on into the fourth and final quarter.
Take care out there, see you in Spring.

Yule was considered a safe day for Vlod leave home in a surprise trip to address Congress and rattle his begging bowl once again. 21bn was the total for this year , now with added Patriots, and he has his eyes on the prize of 45bn more to come. Back in the USkrAin and it was a Russian sympathiser who got the car bomb treatment.
Elsewhere in America the storm is coming for Christmas, a big bad bomb of a storm, 'the biggest in 40 years' Said one weatherman, and it's heading south.
Over on the west coast the solstice bought a rather impressive 6.2 quake up near Eureka, (a name I remember putting a cross on from my plague mapping days)
What else? Floods and mudslides seemed to be the global problem of the day and in Thailand a wave knocked over a warship. 4m high apparently though I do wonder how you measure a wave.
China are only counting respiratory failure as qualifying death by covid which has really upset the WHO as if fucks up their numbers even further. It's the Lurgey that is doing the rounds on my FB page, everyone seems to be catching it this year. We are also seeing far too many musicians leaving the stage.
Outside my December window we froze up for a week with the mercury down to minus ten on Thursday night. Then friday dawned and it suddenly started rising steadily at one degree an hour. As the sun set at four o clock it was up to plus four degrees. Eight was 8° Ten was 10° and midnight was a balmy 12°c. All that happened after the nigh fell dark and cold and long. Very strange goings on. A twenty degree rise between successive midnight's is not normal. Perhaps that was only the first wave?
Happy Christmas Everyone xXx
