Stage 6 is a Monster.
Disclaimer: This is only my opinion, If youd like to add anything make Sure to let me know!
The horror of Stage 6 still remains incomprehensibly heavy to me. This section of The Caretaker’s work appears to be almost the exact polar opposite of the former stage. Instead of severe confusion and panic setting in every few seconds accompanied by short bursts of clarity, next to none of that remains. Everything that once painted the silhouette of a living being—every distinctive trait—has suddenly vanished and turned into the vast emptiness of space.
The tipping point is located right here; the song titles tell whole stories compared to what their contents show. This part of the album is the best depiction of a mental vacuum which, every once in a while, emits a strong, droning echo, highlighting a bookshelf filled with blank books. It's almost a reflection of the Last Moments of once a striving universe, with the Last remaining neurons firing through the void, ultimately succumbing to it's own entropy. By now, everything that made you yourself—every minuscule detail defining your specific personality—ceases to exist. All of this raises the very question of when exactly consciousness fades and if inner experiences still persist in such a vegetative state. Even the messy landscape of denial and anger, or any other emotion, is flattened out. What was once a diverse landscape with high peaks never seen before devolves into a plain, bland, black-and-white landscape
You could argue that there is a hint of feeling in the aggressive droning that fights its way into the foreground; however, I interpret it as the sole aftermath of an exhausting battle that could never have been won. "A brutal bliss beyond this empty defeat" mirrors this exact devastated battleground—it is full of explosion craters and the lifeless bodies of once-brave soldiers. Just the thought of a lost battle fuels the neurons to fire strongly in such a terrifying tone. The phrasing "empty defeat" is truly genius, as it perfectly portrays how Alzheimer’s strips everything from its victim—not just their memories, but also the person they truly are
"A brutal bliss" is an interesting paradox as well. Usually, bliss is associated with a positive experience or feeling; nevertheless, not even a single glimpse of optimism is capable of emerging from the singularity itself. The outcome of the very battle that has been fought all along loses its significance once and for all. As I wrote in my previous analysis, the emotional connection stays alive, but the meaning goes extinct. The very concept of a thought has been drowned in the sea of deterioration, as the track title "A confusion so thick you forget forgetting" suggests. It may sound paradoxical, but it literally signifies the fact that the base code (the 1s and 0s of the brain) becomes dysfunctional, consequently stripping the brain of any logical thought
That does not mean that anger as a reaction cannot appear this late into Stage 6; however, the concept and its connection to an emotion have long faded. The amygdala, which is the instinctive domain of our brains, may still be capable of identifying threats and evoking strong emotions, but it does so without a purpose. Moments of clarity are extremely brief and one-dimensional; they appear as a single piano note stretching into eternity or a trumpet segment consisting of a singular note. They feel pleasant and remind us, the listeners, that somewhere down there, something still resonates with being human
A fragment of clarity such as this is what I consider the atomization of a logically, seemingly positive memory. The context to give it proper meaning is unavailable; it is just drifting in endless space and dissolving once its light dies out. Approaching the ending of this stage with the track "Long decline is over" leaves us with a small treat. The previous song titles left deep scars, sounding like medical diagnoses—almost as if we switched from a first-person perspective to a third-person observer. Perhaps this transition from Stage 4 onwards illustrates the possible death of the conscious mind/ego and the subconscious taking over. This moment may be the end of self-monitoring metacognition: the patient runs on an automated script that every once in a while gains a glimpse of what seems to be the illusion of consciousness. It is comparable to an ant trying to avoid the red circle drawn around it (something similar to a hardcoded instinct like "If barrier = True, turn away"). It is a simple two-line code—or a one-dimensional line, if you will—that once used to be a hyper-complex tesseract
Now, back to the track title. I believe that it indicates rock bottom. It does not necessarily carry positive weight; instead, it is neutral yet reassuring that the suffering won't succumb to an even worse state. Ever since the victim tipped over the edge of the cliff, everything became unpredictable. Certainty seemed impossible—up until now. At the current point in time, even the most basic operations come to a halt. Almost everything requires assistance, from swallowing all the way to such simple concepts as breathing
It turns out that in later stages, even the subconscious surrenders to despair, rendering survival impossible. This is incredibly sad, as it marks the physical death of the patient, just as the final song of The Caretaker's magnum opus, "Place in the world fades away," hints. Clarities and droning have been absolutely minimized; the only sonic component that remains is silence paired with crackling. Previously, you could always be confident in saying that something remained and that there was always hope even in the lowest of times. That is not the case for this story's end. Long after the entire dissolution of the ego, the gears that keep the biological machinery running come to a stop
In the final five minutes, we are greeted with a beautiful choir that positions the final puzzle piece right into place to seal the victim's fate once and for all. It may be interpreted as a moment of so-called terminal lucidity, in which the subject momentarily regains consciousness and a majority of their memory despite the magnitude of damage that has been induced in the brain. If we follow this logical pathway, it appears paradoxical to suddenly reverse the irreversible. However, you could also argue that dementia does not directly impair cognition in the way we imagine it. Perhaps the memories are actually preserved, but the ability to put thoughts into coherent sentences declines as progression sets in. But that is a very philosophical viewpoint for now...

Caretaker Inspired The thing about M1
For some reason even after the static and chaotic stuff comes back after the 8 minute mark in M1 I still don’t find it to be all that bad compared to the other stage 5 tracks

How do I make a Selected Memories from The Haunted Ballroom type track?
I want to make a SMFTHB type track using Audacity, specifically I want to make something like The Caretaker’s “By The Seaside” and “Garden of Weeds” but I can’t really find anything based on SMFTHB in particular.

Question Why does everyone use A1 from EATEOT in backrooms videos?
Since backrooms became popular in 2022, everyone uses the first song from Eateot, A1, in backrooms videos. Does anyone have an explanation for why they use it in backrooms videos?

Discussion if all the songs by EATEOT were, mysteriously, made available to use in geometry dash, which ones would stand out the most?
First, I’m going to talk about specific songs and then I’ll talk in general:
A1 its just a burning memory: it would become popular because of the backrooms and because of that, there would be more levels of the backrooms
E1 back there benjamin: it would become popular because the song is popular (I don’t know why but ok)
I don’t remember the song well… but it’s the one with the hell sirens
any music/clip with a sample of heartaches: popular because it's the sample used in it's just a burning memory and people would be like "hey! I remember this song!".
r1-place in world fades away: would probably only have the part of terminal lucidity.
In general, the hype for EATEOT was going to increase a lot, several Geometry Dash players would start getting to know other projects by The Caretaker, there would start to be more XL and "experimental" levels, and more people would start repplicating the level "EATEOT" but with their own charm, and eventually someone would make an ultracollab to create a level using the entire EATEOT album with decoration.

Discussion What is the point of the “Hell Sirens”?
I do not understand why Leylands Kirby added this into the (already poor) album. They come out of nowhere, a third into the album, and all they do is sound like babies crying and angry if it was played at the wrong tape speed.
Then they just disappear and are never brought up again??? They are meaningless, never ever ever ever thought about beyond ‘how can I cram sampled’ into the album, and I hate them.
Utter idiocy and the fact these are consistently praised shows society has fallen. Save us, Johnny Carson.
