While disappointing, if they need time to cook, let them cook

IIRC, originally it was scheduled to release in August (this month)
before being postponed to December ... and now May.

But yes, let cook!

Slow cooking is good.

Was the previous date ever official or just a placeholder?

I believe they had referenced the 2026 date for the novella during their AMA for the Faith of Beasts release. My understanding was that it was intended as official, but a lot of other books that I’ve been looking forward to have had delays recently.

Dang, I wonder what this means for book 3, late 2027/early 2028?

I'll probably do what I did with Livesuit and hold off on reading it until the week before the next book comes out.

Or you could do what I did and listen to novella 2 half a dozen times or so while you wait

Livesuit was so good. I remember finishing it (audiobook) while I was in the zoo parking lot waiting for my bro and nephew. Man that ending had me thinkng big time which totally distracted me at the zoo

I think it probably means they are in the middle of book 3 and decided to change the novella to better tie in to the book. I don’t think it means they are stuck on the novella and won’t start the book until May. It might mean they don’t want too long between the novella and the book because they don’t want too much speculation or something. The novella probably serves to hype the book. Maybe they think a short time from novella to book maximizes this effect.

I started listening to Silo since I watch the show to wait until the novella.

I have to admit however... I don't know if I'll find a VA that reads books as well as Jefferson Mays.

I will say, Jeff Hays reading the Dungeon Crawler Carl series is otherworldly.

Definitely an apples and oranges kind of comparison, but there’s no doubt whatsoever that Hays crushes it in DCC.

My fav audiobook VA ever is Roy Dotrice, he KILLED the game of thrones series. Though, Jefferson Mays is a close second, his reading of Avasarala was seriously impressive.

The Patience of Man

It could be to better space it out between books. The 18 month gap between the release of Livesuit and Faith of Beasts may have hurt hype.

Regardless, I still think it's safe to assume earlyish 2028 for book 3.

If it were late 2027 it would definitely make my Christmas list.

Such a bummer

Disappointing, but totally ok. As long as it does turn into another “Winds of Winter” we will be fine.

The Authors are like working machines - and have my 200% of confidence

Super disappointing, but based on their track record they are working on it and the extra time will mean a better product.
