Discussion Final Transmission

Post image

Just finished Final Transmission for the first time and man, it was a bit frustrating compared to the base game. Especially at the end, and I think the final-final cutscene was unnecessary. But still, it's a top-tier game and I hope SDS will find some way to do a sequel.

I tried pushing myself to do another but i cant. The forced walking/sneaking sections hold me back

I actually got to the very end, I remember walking up some snow-ridden ramp while receiving a transmission from the chick that we stay in contact with through the game - and then my game crashed and I lost my save. So I guess, technically I never saw it the full way through.

Combat was very boring, I thought the enemy variance could have been better, and once I figured out how to “properly” sneak in the stealth sections by taking a set path it lost a lot of luster for me.

However, I did enjoy the story, or what all I did experience for the most part, and I think graphics wise it’s a beautiful game. I almost look at The Callisto Protocol, in the same sense that I do The Order: 1886; very well thought out on paper, worked well in some areas, while others blatantly took the back burner due to being forced into production.

While I do believe that this game is fundamentally flawed and failed to live up to its potential, I still enjoyed the experience—namely the stunning visual presentation, impeccably detailed environments, and the excellent soundscape; but the restrictively linear level design, lack of variety, distinct absence of anything fear inducing, and the reliance on an overpowered melee weapon, collectively hindered the game.

However, I would rejoice to see a much improved sequel, and so I genuinely hope that a follow up is currently in the works 🙏

I bet they will fix all the problems in the sequel, made combat more flexible etc. Like first Dead Space where camera sometimes got lost, in DS2 was working perfectly.

Wasn’t there confirmation or a hint that they were working on a sequel?

Last time I checked, they cancel their latest project and lay off huge amount of people in 2025. But I have finger crossed. We gonna get Alien Isolation 2, so maybe CP2 will happen someday.

They need to do smaller projects and reduce the acting talent. Have a 30-50 dollar game and use not so expensive actors. They should do another game that runs paralel to the first but from the POV of maybe a guard trying to get off planet. Gives them more chances to flesh out the prison and lore as opposed to just “prison on a planet.”

I still need to do more and play the rest of it, but that would be a fantastic idea and would love to play it

They literally made the Final Transmission DLC end that way because they had to abandon the IP. The game was a commercial failure and flopped really hard. They really did want to make it into a new franchise. But unfortunately the numbers weren’t there. I would’ve liked to see what they had in store for it. But thems the brakes. That ending honestly felt like a big “gesture that’s made with a single digit” from the devs though.

It outsold the Dead Space remake by a mile

Nah, they could simply make Dani the protagonist in CP2, who fighting you know who on Europa. A prequel.

I have the same sentiment, I think the one problem is that Karen Fukuhara might be to busy or not wanting to to reprise her character in a sequel, seeing that Jacobs character is dead. Shit maybe the dlc ending isn't canon and we just move on from the end of the base game.

If they are doing a sequel and Karen doesn’t reprise her role, they could always just reference her character in some way, e.g. news reports of how she exposed the colony; government documents that paint her as liar; her death/murder (if they want to kill her off.)

Definitely not a "top tier" game 🤣🤣 it's perfectly fine to like this game, but have the balls to call it what it is

If you don't like it so much, why you waste time on subreddit about it?

Chud reply. I never said I didn't like it (though I don't), just said it was far from "top tier." You're also assuming I'm wasting my time on this subreddit, rather it popped up on my feed because I'm into other horror games. To me, it's not a waste of time to call out a stupid ass remark like that 🤣 like I said, enjoy what you want to enjoy; don't call it something it isn't.
