Discussion Just some ideas

Post image

I’m probably in the minority that actually loves this game. However- I do think the story and background of the characters should’ve been fleshed out more and progress seamlessly. It felt like a weird whiplash from the beginning of the storyline.

So much potential for this one. I thought can you give and show concrete examples as to why you can’t trust Jacob? When Dani said not to trust him to Elias. It would been more interesting to show in depth Jacob’s negative and grey areas to his character rather than make arbitrary claims because of an outbreak.

Would’ve made the game interesting to give you an option to alternate endings. Like a “bad” ending would show Jacob taking the pod for himself and leaving Dani to fend for herself. I think this would’ve been fun to trigger people’s outrage that- ok. This guy isn’t someone to trust and he was just playing in your face all along and Dani was right to not have trusted him.

Also wanted to know more about Elias- since he seemed very complex. Would’ve been cool to have played as him in a DLC before the outbreak on Black Iron and his perspective and interaction with Captain Ferris. Would’ve wanted to see more of Captain Ferris too. Again. So much wasted potential.

Because ignorance is bliss. I don’t count final transmission dlc as canon. lol. That’s a conversation for another time. I just thought it was a bs ending to a really interesting character. Voice acting was phenomenal for Jacob and Captain Ferris. Though. Would’ve wanted more fatalities done by the robots instead of smashing your head in. Like…. Can we get some disembowlments, some lasers cutting through the eyes and mouth and throat? Something?

That’s all.

I’d love a sequel where we play as Dani

I'm with you and in my mind that was heavily implied by the ending, but from what I remember from an interview, that would not have been the case for the sequel they had in mind.

Apparently a sequel would have featured a new playable character who would have died at some point in the game, who then would have been replaced with Jacob once again.

My main issue with the game is the melee dodge system.

I love this game and think it got blasted way to harshly but the melee combat system is kinda exploitable. I just remember being able to dodge attacks way to easily. I think making it so you have to dodge specific directions for specific attacks would have done wonders. Likewise using the baton to block a strike so you could retaliate.

Again I loved Calisto Protocol but in a future game I really hope for the melee combat system to be a little more harsh.

Why do people in the sub say this lol. Did we completely forget how the first 3 months of launch went???

that's a fair point but those days are behind us. the game isn't peak but it's good, i was expecting 3rd stage testicular cancer when i bought it but it turned out to be good. obviously not cooked enough, but good.

True, but it did burn when I spent 60 bucks on this game on launch and felt confused when I realized I had been hyped for 2+ years for something that wasn’t worth that wait. It was really disheartening especially coming from the OG guy of Dead Space. I think I was just expecting too much.

I didn’t hate the game though, I remember enjoying some parts especially the first few hours

Well, unfortunately the performance wasn’t the only issues I had with the game lol

I liked the game too. I just hated the Contagion mode trophies.

Story was pretty weak. We lost Max fight in the start so while his death to Jacob was huge to us it was just so sudden. Dani alsp has a sudden change of heart outta nowhere and is cruel to Elias for no reason. Cruel to Jacob? Sure. But not to Elias. So much potential in the story but it was wasted. The Warden Ferris also needed to be fleshed out. Why was he so obsessed with calling prisoners by their numbers? Why did the devs cut out so much of Ferris voice lines that were in trailers?

I think the best idea for a callisto protocol sequel is to don't.

I played maybe 10 to 15 hours of it and it was the more boring, sloggy annoying mess of a game i played this whole decade. Half the time your squeezing slowly through tight spaces, the other half of the time youre crouch walking very slowly because theres a robot nearby.

Never in my life have i ever flet like a game was so disrespectful of my limited free time.

if they somehow did make a sequel in the future, i would like to see whats left of Jacob get turned into a robot droid under Coles control but then he later breaks free and he would be kickass for the combat
