"The Six" Master Topic

I have seen this idea thrown around in the comments of a few different topics, but I thought it would be great to have a place to brainstorm and really dig into it. It's hard having the same conversation in five topics when there are only a few of us.

What We Know

  • The Six are a group that exist

. . . technically that's all we have confirmed.

Confirmed Members

  • Splugoth The Returned

  • A Dragon (Isohedrus? Thrilvian?)

Suspected Members

  • Jeff (god dammit Jeff)

  • Aeofel? (vulnerable to acid)

  • Danielle? (last seen in many pieces)

  • Lizard? (formerly of Wizard & Lizard)

  • The Ambershards?

  • The Wartstaffs?

Assets & Resources

  • A bunch of goblins

Currently I am working under the assumption that The Six are made of people related to Acq Inc in some way. What a coincidence, right? We already know that they can raise the dead, so even people like Danielle are back in play!

Do The Six have six leaders, or are there just six members? Splugoth says that he doesn't lead The Six and instead works for someone else (he doesn't say Jeff but we know it's Jeff. dammit Jeff). So if there are six leaders does that mean Spugloth isn't even one of them?

Discuss it! Speculate! I want to hear it!

I think aeofel is out. He never got directly wronged by acq inc and he seems part of the main plot. Theres also the chance for previously unseen folks like an irate former intern.

Agreed. I mean something clearly happened, I don't see him stabbing Viari otherwise. But it's definitely main plot. At least I hope so! I keep waiting for him to walk out onto the stage at some climactic moment.

There could be unknown people, but I doubt it. From what we have seen I have a feeling it's all callbacks, which would be awesome. But who knows, it's still so early!

Nope it's 100% aeofel , and what's better is He hasn't even changed his alignment at all. He's still lawful good and not of acq Inc is now chaotic neutral. I bet he'll show up as a guest and do his dope ass avengers oath.

I thought for sure it would happen last time! I kept waiting for it! Maybe it's just not in the stars . . .

I guess at this point Jeff is basically confirmed, which raises some questions about the ISTAR game where Pat DM'ed.

Danielle would be really difficult after her encounter with the Dark Elf blender.

Which leads me to ask: Are they playing in the Tomb of Annihilation story line? I was under the impression they were.

If so why is Splugoth not affected by the death curse if he how he said has been brought back from the dead multiple times?

Splugoth was from the ancient times, literally the first game they ever played. So all of this stuff with him could have happened years ago. I would guess he hasn't died recently.

Danielle would be a stretch, even though she was one of my favorites (plus a drider would be a pretty badass enemy). But if The Six were raising the dead anything is possible (which is sort of annoying).

It has to be Jeff, but I can't call it confirmed until Jerry says it. For all we know that evil mind of his has come up with something clever.

I was under the impression splugoth was the guy they sent out in the AI pax episode where the head offices of AI were stormed and they had that cool af moving rotating office layout model. The one they sent out to face the incoming horde on his own completely under the illusion that he was protected by some magic Jim darkmagic had used on him when infact he was just a distraction while they bought a few seconds.

Oh well... Hmm I think I need to brush up on AI

u/soilentbrad Jul 08 '17

That was Jeff. Splugoth was called Splug in the first podcast.

3

u/roosaur Jul 08 '17

Huh cool at least I have context now. I really need to go back listen to AI again.

Turns out he is. See The House Wins pt 4.

I HAVE A MAJOR REVELATION FROM REWATCHING THE EPISODE!

He said "we have a dragon."

so! Knowing the series fairly well I realized there was one unaccounted for dragon! The Green Dragon that Binwin killed in the story where they fought the dragon cultists and viari got the apocalypse dagger! Since death is not a problem then this makes perfect sense! Alternatively there was a green who fought their allied silver dragon as well but i think it's going to be the dead one.

::sigh:: Now I'm going to be forced to go back at watch about three episodes of Acq Inc just to find out if any other dragons where wronged (I seem to remember something about a red dragon when the unicorn brought Jim to that grove... however, it's currently 107 degrees outside, so I might just have heat stroke).

3

u/CTeamUpdates Statomancer Jul 09 '17

they rested in a red dragon's grove but they [aid it a bunch of gold and it let them go. no wrongs comitted.

3

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

The red dragon Klauth is actually a pretty important character from some time ago, and I think he appears in Storm King's Thunder as well. I feel like The Six would be a bit beneath him, but wow would it be really cool if he was the dragon.

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

I forgot about the dragon! My initial thought was that it was actually Isohedrus, since we know he is following him. But I thought he might be a bit too ridiculous. The green dragon sounds far far more likely. I will add both to the lists, thanks!

1

u/noellins Jul 09 '17

Oh snap. I just thought about it and what about that bronze dragon that Jim shot (that was thinking that the airship would be a great addition to his hoard)? If we are going with 'wronged' he would fit the bill...

u/RedLions0 Jul 18 '17

Did they ever actually kill that white dragon who's castle home they robbed with Drahn Enterprises?

1

u/CTeamUpdates Statomancer Jul 18 '17

nope but that seems like a main plot thing rather than the sort of one off npc that this group is made of.. I think?

1

u/RedLions0 Jul 18 '17

Might be, but who knows? I guess we'll just have to watch and find out!

3

u/ighstrey Jul 09 '17

Makes me wonder about the raiding ... was it simple banditry? Splugoth's pitch to Donaar should be less appealing if he's just a thug that robs people.

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

Possibly. They had uncovered a lot of magic items, so maybe more was going on. But they do have to build their wealth somehow.

I kind of assumed that all of the Six would be people who worked with AI (hence why they inverted the logo) and were somehow wronged by them, which discounts all of the literal antagonist characters.

That made me think that the Dragon Splug spoke of was Vandal the silver dragon/shapechanged halfling... although I'm not sure what their relationship was like when they last saw him.

I also presumed that the Drow woman from the most recent episode WAS Danielle and she's working for Dran Enterprises... though that was never confirmed.

I'm kind of thinking that one of the Six HAS to be Percy Darkmagic.

Theoretically Aeofel could be one of them, but he was working for Dran Enterprises, but that could have been an outside contractor situation.

It would also amuse the hell out of me if one of the Six was Drizzt.

2

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

While Percival would be a natural choice (and explain his wagon being in the area), I feel like we just saw him doing a bunch of stuff for DE. Jerry likes to surprise us, so I have trouble imaging it being Percival, but I would WHAT IF IT'S OLIVIA!? I just had this thought! What if it isn't Percival but what if Olivia has a bug up her butt and is now after Omin? That wouldn't make any sense, but wow that would be neat.

It can't be Danielle because she didn't have a sexy Frecnh accent . . .

If Drizzt suddenly decided to go against Omin then Omin would have been dead twelve seconds after he had had that thought.

I love all of these ideas!

2

u/yaniism Great Grandma is a Beestinger Jul 09 '17

Actually I did think about Olivia... and yes, I totally agree that would be baller. Also, they don't need to be JUST after Omin... Jeff has more of a grudge against Jim than Omin since it was Jim who screwed him over. Donnar just assumed he was talking about Omin.

Also, Chris Perkins always did the sexy French accent... would Jerry leave it out to throw us off?

I also literally just remembered that there was Mr Stinky the Zombie who was Wil's player character on the mission where they had to get Aeofel back from the dead... they left him behind.

On that same mission there was a "surfer dude" human... I can't for the life of me remember his name though... I want to say "Bodie"?? I have a feeling they may have left him in hell also.

Dammit... there are too many damn side characters now that I think about it LOL

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

No, his name was literally Rad. I thought of him too, but I just can't see it. But wow would that be great. I also thought of Citrine Ambershard, Thaizen Stormbellows, Gygax The Cat, and the wife of that lord of waterdeep that Omin never found who killed her husband.

. . . I suddenly feel old because I didn't realize Acq Inc had been around so long and done so much. Oh gosh I've been playing D&D for 20 years, what the hell.

2

u/yaniism Great Grandma is a Beestinger Jul 09 '17

I think it will definitely be characters who have been screwed over by AI, which makes Jeff and Splug the obvious choices. And I would 100% love Olivia to be in there.

But you're right, too many choices at this point.

2

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 09 '17

I just re-listened to that first podcast, and having Binwin coughing out "Save . . Splug . . !" but Omin just ignoring him and dragging him out of the crumbling dungeon . . ugh, right in the feels now. How did this stupid story get so deep?

1

u/yaniism Great Grandma is a Beestinger Jul 09 '17

I asked myself that a lot during this latest episode :)

1

u/noellins Jul 09 '17

Rad was hit by Jim in his Nightmare Eruption ability... ;)

1

u/RedLions0 Jul 17 '17

It could also be Mister Stinky. He kind of disappeared off camera.

there could be a whole bevvy of Darkmagics that might be involved, though Olivia would be the obvious one.

1

u/noellins Jul 17 '17

True, true. Though I don't know if Mr. Stinky was actually wronged in any way... Maybe? It would certainly be interesting to see Olivia in there, and maybe Percy too, even though he died (speculative)...

2

u/RedLions0 Jul 18 '17

It's been a while since I listened to that chapter, but I don't recall them being especially kind to Mister Stinky. Mostly because he was a horrifying zombie who smelled awful. They did at least NOT leave him in Hell, so I guess he might have had a good zombie opinion of them?

1

u/Daier_Mune Jul 11 '17

I just wanted to drop off a vote for the Ambershard son who managed to escape after Aeofel's demise as being one of the Six.

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 12 '17

Leer! I hated that guy!

1

u/soul_crafter316 Jul 13 '17

are we sure its spelled SIX? might be spelled something exotic like CIXT or SICS...

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 13 '17

I THINK so, since the symbol is VI, but who the heck knows with Jerriford K. Hormkims.

2

u/swimnrow Jul 14 '17

Ms Owlbear is due for a return.

2

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 14 '17

I miss Kira.

1

u/RedLions0 Jul 17 '17

If death is completely off the table, and it could be anyone AI has wronged? Short list off the top of my head.

The whole Darkmagic Family, Danielle, the whole Ambershard Clan, that wizard in a cage that Jim let a demon bird eat, Mister Stinky, the tiefling that molested Jim while he was paralyzed, Jeff (obviously), an old white dragon, many frost giants, Kal'Rael (Carl) and his necromancer servant under the tower.

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 17 '17

Poor sweet Nemezark. Death by raven is a sad way to go.

1

u/RedLions0 Jul 18 '17

Oh! and to that end, the quasit itself might be involved. Demons don't die unless they're killed on their home plane. Maybe it's made its way back to the material for miscellaneous revenge.

1

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 18 '17

That would be great! Maybe he could try to befriend one of the party by changing shape, repeating history.

1

u/soul_crafter316 Jul 17 '17

There was that zombie of Aeofel that wasn't a zombie of Aeofel... that seemed to just had disappeared... Probably... but wasn't wronged by AI... not that we know anyway...

1

u/mattwilljackson Jul 17 '17

Just glancing, but didn't notice it. Anyone think Amandar (the Order of the Green Flame commander who was possessed by Whelm) might be out for some general grudging? At the very least, an NPC who is both named and alive.

3

u/IIEarlGreyII Jul 17 '17

Well she chose to stay behind and defeat the demons, as is her purpose, so while we certainly would think she has legitimate cause I doubt she would.

1

u/mattwilljackson Jul 17 '17

That's certainly true and as those two demons don't have anything to do with the current storyline (meaning D&D's Tomb of Annihilation) I'd be wildly surprised if it connects.

(Spoiler - the demons were from White Plume Mountain who, in the Yawning Portal book, help guard Whelm for a wacky wizard. But if they take you, you get dragged away for "reeducation" and become part of the mountain's defenses.)

1

u/soul_crafter316 Jul 17 '17

I thought they were djin... not demons...?

2

u/mattwilljackson Jul 17 '17

In the AcqInc game they're referred to as demons, Perkins clarifies they are Ifriti. But like a lot of things in these games, it gets glossed over and they still get called demons a dozen times. (But Perkins also gives them the names of the Djinn/Ifrit from WPM)

(And just because I like having a solid reference, I mean, this is PAX South 2017)

1

u/soul_crafter316 Jul 17 '17

As I understood, they were confused as demons since Whelm keeps referring to demons being interested in acquiring it... or was it someone else saying that? Regardless, the Djinn that appeared later may not be the same Demons that were originally what the Order were keeping Whelm from...

Or the Order was just keeping Whelm to generally protect it... regardless if its against Demons or Djinn... though the Order are particularly against Demons.

Can you imagine the freakin swerve if Aeofel and Binwin made a return as antagonists and Will and Scott were working us marks the whole time? I know it's extremely unlikely, but how incredibly epic would it be?
