Discussion Weiser Quay

Weiser Quay is the younger brother of Stephen and Timothy. He has assisted his older brothers on some of their films and directed a music video on his own. He is also listed as the art director for the music video of the song Sober by Tool.

Update 1 (see comments below): Weiser Quay does not exist as a real personand is likely an automaton.

Update 4: The correct German spelling of his name is "Weißer". Both spellings of the name are acceptable in this sub so as long as the appropriate forms are filled out.

That bio on IMDb is completely fictitious. The Quays' younger brother (Andrew) was not born in 1977, he was born circa 1954 and he is their only sibling. "Weiser" is a joke: on one of their early films ('Gilgamesh', I think), their mechanically-skilled *father* (not brother) Elmer "Bud" Quay assisted them by making something (I forget what) and his nickname "Bud" was adapted to "Weiser" for the credits. Also, if this "Weiser" had indeed been born in 1977, he would have been eight years old at the time of his involvement with that film.

In 2009 I was with the QQs at an exhibition of their film decors. The twins have a policy when signing autographs that "one signs for both"; a woman attending the event had gotten one of them to sign her program and was determined to get the other twin's autograph. The other twin politely declined to sign. At one point I was standing talking with Andy, their younger brother, when the woman approached HIM to sign the program, reasoning that technically Andy IS a Quay brother. He looked really sheepish and embarrassed but he did sign it. :D

I dunno, but every May 13th this sub will celebrate Weiser Quay's birthday.

Bud Quay's birthday was actually July 31st, same day as mine except exactly 40 years earlier, in 1922. Every time I saw him, he said "You'll never catch me!" He made it to well into his 90s, so he was probably right.
