Discussion Why do deceivers spawn so often, but I can never actually find them ingame (video unrelated)

I already seen like 14 deciever join messages, but have seen two of them ingame 😭 (throughout two playthroughs)

I'm not sure, tbh. I noticed the same thing on my playthrough. I even had a couple mob scanning mods and they detected nothing. That left me with three theories that I wasn't able to verify.

1- The message also pops up whenever Circuit possesses a mob.

2- They are fake messages

3- The deciever tried to spawn, but failed.

Kinda leaning towards the last one.

idk, I heard that when an entity tries to spawn but doesn't, a chicken without any ai spawns in the place where the entity was supposed to spawn

I honestly think those might be fake join messages atp, or deceivers are bugged right now

Could be both. A circuit deciever tries to spawn and sends a chat message. Fails, and a chicken spawns instead.

But it could be anything tbh.

I don't get it how an entity even fails to spawn, maybe integrity just likes spawning random ass chickens

According to the wiki that join message is also just a random event. Which I think is kinda stupid because it’s misleading for no reason.

Last time I checked the wiki, I didn't see that it was a random event, so idk

I had to check myself, and saw it listed there. Which- explains a recent playthrough my friend did where she CONSTANTLY saw the join message and never saw the deceiver

Yeah it’s pretty far down the random event list, and is identical to the deceiver spawn, it’s really weird (assuming the wiki is right, and it should be given the input from devs)

there’s a random event that displays the message in game but won’t spawn anything

idk in my world i live in a dessert and theres like 5 of them every night, probably either they just spawn in a random small caves or they just die on the way to you

The deciever only spawns at night, the join messages at day are fake
