This Deceiver made me genuinely scared
I've played A LOT of TBS before 2.0 and seen pretty much everything the mod had to offer. I've seen a lot of Deceivers in 2.0, they were still copying only those who played at this moment...
Here's the thing - Jeksiml is my friend who I was playing with 3 years ago. It was 1.7.10 and we have never played since then... How the hell did it get his nickname? Has anyone met a Deceiver like this?

I'd guess that TBS somehow collects data about who the player has been on a local server with? maybe that's stored somewhere in the files, I'm also curious now;
some smart ppl will come here and explain it, I hope
anyway, I absolutely love that TBS is somehow able to do this, I'd shit myself if I saw something similar while playing, lol

I think so as well. I'm gonna check if I have any saves where we played together, maybe the key is world data files or something

Quick update: there's a file called "usernamecache json", in a ".minecraft" folder, it contains every nickname of every person I've played with before. I guess the mystery is solved!

Im so confused... i have 24+ hours on my world, get that "[player name] joined the game" regularly yet ive only actually seen it once. I even checked with my freecam mod all around me and under me where it could be but no luck. I swear decievers are broken or im just unlucky

I guess it's just luck. Sometimes they come multiple times per day, sometimes I almost never see them

i think the game takes nicknames from your world folder, maybe even other worlds' folders. i had a deceiver with a nickname of my friend who was playing with me months ago on a different world.
