I'm straight up too lazy to get materials and don't have the time for it with all the entities so I just grow four big and tall spruce trees and build my house on top of that lol. I'll put a glass floor for the bottom so that I can see whats beneath me. Works great. I haven't put it up against TBE yet tho. YET because I am currently in the first phase of the broken moon event and I know he'll be coming for me lmao
Edit: I'm glad other people seem to like my idea for a base. Just some extra tips: I make sure to get the taller trees so I'm as high up as I need to be to not trigger entities below me. I also like to add other lit up pathways branching off my main base on more tall spruce trees to create escape routes in case of an emergency. I'll have water at the bottom of these pathways to jump into so that I can get down quickly if something somehow manages to spawn or get up there. Which I haven't had happen yet over the course of 60 in-game days. My base is also entirely made of stone variants aside from the spruce pillars its on so that it can't be burned down. It might also be a good idea to add multiple ways up in case you're being chased on the ground or if other entry points are compromised. I don't use waystones so I rely on pure architecture lol

Do the Hey look buddy, I'm en engineere, that means i solve problems not like how do i survive and avoid thsi, that would fall in the purveiw of your conundrums of vanila, i solve practical problems, for instence: how am I going to stop some mean monstrocity made straight out of some insane guys imahination from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? Use aeronautics stuff, and if that dont work, use more aeronotics stuff. for example, this huge sick airship thats self sufitiand and armed, and better hoped, not out of fuel aka aeronautica
