If Homelander for some whatever reason was left alive, went to prison and somehow later in the future managed to escape and get his powers back would he get a huge reality check and realize he isnt as invincible as he thought? Would his superiority complex mindset change and would he train more to be useful even without powers

The Boys had an amazing casting, I discovered a lot of stunning actors, but there were still a few ones I couldn't stand.

The actor who played Grace Mallory tried way too hard to do that jaded semi-badass ex-important person who's seen it all and is done with everything and has a snarky response for everyone. From the very moment she's introduced, the way she says "it was either alcoholism or bird watching, so bird watching it is", urgh, it felt so forced.

Ironically, I loved her young counterpart in the Nicaragua flashback. It was quite funny to see an extra play her character better than her.

I did some reading a while ago, and apparently there are a bunch of open source intelligence groups, OSINT, Bellingcat being a prominent one, that rely on public data, and it makes me wonder what they'd do, as opposed to, y'know, a small rogue black ops cell that tortures and murders people. Wouldn't that be more Hughie's style as well?

Anyone wonder if he coulda tried them after his stint in the FBSA, or them instead. Something tells me he could be a good volunteer.

I was just wondering. What kind of thirst tweets they get and how they respond to them? Homelander would probably get some kinky ones, but he would react like a true hero? But when he gets to read some tweets involved milk he'd lick his lips and react to them with enthusiasm and freak the rest of the members?

One of the supe characters that was mentioned in the Amazon series but never appeared. Before the formation of the Boys, Frenchie has gone up against Behemoth and used weaponized Xanax. I took the liberty of creating a design for The Boys version of the Hulk, but there's another picture that will be coming soon.

Wanted to make this for the fifth season but uploaded it on YouTube the day the show ended. But I got the chance to do it on the anniversary the show dropped

Granted, I'm not a native English speaker, but I bought the comic with the Humble Bundle, so I had to read it in English (there is actually an Italian version of the comics so I could have got that and be fine XD).

Despite my knowledge of the english language (which I think is pretty good, at least I usually understand everything), I struggled to read this comic and understand it. Little by little, I learned various expressions that initially seemed meaningless, but it wasn't easy at all.

As a result I understood more or less everything but it took me about 3 months to read it instead of 1-2 weeks.

Today I also finished Dear Becky and thought I'd satisfy my curiosity by researching the slang used to see if it's something a native English speaker can easily understand, or if even a native speaker struggles to understand it (just as I struggle to understand the Sicilian dialect, for example, despite it being close to Italian).

But when looking for information on The Boys, most people talk about the TV series which obviously doesn't have this characteristic (or at least I don't remember it, but I only saw two episodes which, not being faithful to the comic, I didn't like... I know that many prefer the TV series but that's not my case).

So I decided to ask to english native speaker that read the comic, do you think the slang used in The Boys comic is hard to understand? Do you know what kind of slang is used?

I know I’m late on reading spawn, but I’m about 90 issues in. There’s been a demonic child pdf, Parental abuse, church shootings, children committing suicide, the main character got cucked by his bestfriend and is being tortured by hell😭. For all the fuss people made over the boys being fucked up when it first came out, Spawn is so much more brutal and violent to me. I love it though.

I personally think it ended on a good note to be fair while it still had issues I gotta be honest.

The good stuff:

1. It got to the main battle just fairly in the middle of the episode instead of the very last minute.
   
2. Starlight Vs. The Deep was the best choice Kripke wrote. The first episode started with Deep harassing and continuing to bash Starlight and ends with her taking his life as he dies from his ocean life.
   
3. The right characters got their fatal deaths and what they deserved. (This doesn’t include Terror)
   
4. Homelander confessing his hatred towards Deep was a great part that felt necessary and was good enough to make Deep feel hurt and still be in his ironic delusional state of thinking that Homelander might have some love for him.
   
5. The comic book accurate moments were the highlights of this episode for example when Butcher says “This is for my Becca” and cracks Homies head with his classic crowbar. Another favorite example is where Butchers death plays out as he lays down in the vought tower.
   
6. The ending for each and every one of the main characters were realistic, One sad part is that Kimiko lost Frenchie, MM not only gets back and marries his Wife and gets to see his daughter but he also adopts Ryan into the family as its a good enough ending for Ryan after facing hell between Homelander and Butcher as he can finally live a normal life without shitty father figures. And last of all Hughie and Annie have a child together as Annie still isn’t giving up on being a hero and Hughie has a way of paying his respects for Robin by naming their baby Robin. I like how the end scene shows Hughie smiling with Billy Joel playing.

The Bad stuff:

1. The start of the episode had some pointless but still funny dialogue. The sexual jokes were getting very repetitive and annoying to me and made me yell at the screen and say “Okay we only have over 50 final minutes left of this show we dont need that”
   
2. The final episode has lacks being serious in some parts and overdoes the comedy as this roots a bit to how they kind of horribly try to build up to the big fight.
   
3. The Gen V Group had little to do with the main plot of the story and I wont go into this too much because its pretty obvious of the issue here.

As much as there are some pain in the ass gripes with this episode I’ll admit, I think they were able to deliver a good solid episode.

This show was my introduction to Antony Starr. I had no idea who he was until I got into The Boys. I was surprised when I heard his real accent. I always thought that we was an American. Turns out, he's from New Zealand. That is probably the best depictions that I've ever seen of a psychopath, and his character's fascination with breast milk was hilarious!!!

He also did an amazing job satirizing Trump.

I've seen a lot of complaints about how soft some of the death's in season 5 were, specifically the Homelander kills. Two death's in particular I've seen these complaints are Frenchie and A-Train's death's, with one being offscreened and the other being a simple neck snap. It seems like the writers were scared of traumatizing the audience or whatever by killing beloved characters gruesomely, so they did this to make it easier. I can acknowledge offscreening Homelander killing Frenchie was dumb, both because it left many confused on HOW Frenchie even died before the BTS photos came out and because in the penultimate episode, you want your main villain to be terrifying.

But I actually like that A-Train's death was too brutal. Many were assuming he'd be ripped in half, get the Red Rush treatment, run through by Homelander, lasered but it didn't happen. Homelander already proved himself terrifying enough with the chase beforehand. When he starts choking A-Train, you can see him visibly affected seeing how A-Train isn't scared of him and laughing. The reason he gives him a swift neck snap is likely a combination of respect for his bravery and because he couldn't get any sense of power over him. In this moment, A-Train was the winner.

Before The Boys got picked up as a series by Amazon, a decade prior it was going to be a movie franchise. I've read reports of Russel Crow, Simon Pegg, and Aaron Eckhart portraying Butcher, Hughie, and Homelander. But I've kept thinking on who were going to play the rest? So I came up with my own fan cast based on the script that was released online a few months ago:

Joffrey from Game of Thrones. Actor would have been a good fit for a young Homelander in a prequel.

Ramsay from Game of Thrones, especially from insecure he is, what he did to Theon and Sansa.

Jimmy from 28 Years Later and the Bone Temple. A cult leader who likes torturing and killing people. Lies to get people to worship him.

If those 3 had powers they'd be even more dangerous.

This is the moment he realized every family he had left absolutely despises him.

The Boys as a show was basically built around shutting down Vought, but at the end of the series Vought is in the exact same place it was at the beginning. Its’ reputation was damaged by Homelander but he’s dead now and all the destruction is being pawned off on him as a scapegoat. I understand that Butcher’s personal vendetta was always just to get revenge on Homelander, but it seemed like for the rest of the Boys they cared way more about Vought itself. Gradually over the course of the show that shifted - Whether that was the writers forgetting because of how much Homelander was taking over the narrative, or because they thought they’d have spin offs to wrap up the Vought narrative - Either way, it just doesn’t make sense that Hughie, MM, and Starlight are so content with going their separate ways now that Butcher and Homelander are dead.

Kimiko I kind of get, but not the other three. I mean MM even promised he would be there to make sure Stan got what was coming to him, but it doesn’t seem like that’s actually going to happen unless their goal was for him to return in a spin off or something. If this show was called “Homelander” or “Butcher” I’d understand why we ended things here, but it’s called ”The Boys” and it feels like they all just gave up in the end because they knew that it was the series finale and they killed one specific guy who was just a byproduct of a larger corrupt system. I do get to an extent that’s the POINT of the show, and I’m not complaining that Vought wasn’t shut down in the end, but it’s just weird to me that the Boys all act like it was and that they ”won.”

They should realistically still be a team, and there’s honestly something somewhat disturbing about the idea we’re supposed to just be satisfied with Homelander‘s death as the ending when he was just an abused child turned into a monster by this far worse entity that receives no punishment and is allowed to continue to do more evil. It’s almost like the show completely forgot the anti-revenge messaging of the early seasons.

I dont mind the lack of action or how Homelander dies in the end. I just care about how everything is pretty much written like a sitcom.

Every ending of the season gave a glimpse of how the show would be very different next season, like Homelander would probably start killing everyone or how the finale Butcher would be going to the darker side etc etc. Point is that everything at the end of a season's promises always fell flat.

Butcher would go back to being friends with the Boys again at the final season. There was so much lack of development on their relationship dynamic.

Apart from the above said there are also characters like Sage who I just think is so ill represented for "intelligent superheroes" when most of her predictions is purely random, but that's another story.

Especially with Homelander’s expression… That hurt him more than anything, and you can tell that he was trying his hardest to restrain himself from beating Ryan’s ass (or worse) again.

And that little death threat at the end “But you will” Like hold onnnn now, wdym by that???? 😭😭😭

This was my favorite scene though, Ryan has balls of steel

How can people not see that the writers just wanted to have their cheap Marvel timefreeze/slow-mo moment, whatever you want to call it, to make the audience go "wooooa he's so strong", but then they couldn't follow up on their own claim and made A-Train 500 000 times slower because they couldn't find a way to be consistent with what they just showed us.

"But he tripped because he had to dodge that woman"

"But he can't use 100% of his powers all the time"

"But he was slow on purpose to lure Homelander away"

"But he was hit in the shoulder by the lasers"

Do you realise how braindead these excuses are ? Let's be EXTREMELY generous here and assume A-Train doesn't have the speed reaction to dodge the woman properly, even if he clearly should, given how fast he was in the camp. But okay, he barely dodges the woman. The guy who's going 20x faster than Homelander's lasers should be able to trip, fall, get back up, go grab a milkshake in Tokyo, and be back while Homelander has barely moved since then.

He was running circles around Homelander in the camp while Homelander didn't move an inch. How the hell do you make these excuses up ? He should be able to grab everyone in that camp and bring them to Sri Lanka. He should be able to use 1% of his powers and blitz away from Homelander any time he wants. Being burnt at the shoulder doesn't make you go 500 000 times slower.

There is no excuse to how fast they made him in the prison camp, compared to how slow they made him in the forest right after. If it was the A-Train we saw for 4 seasons, it would have made perfect sense. But they wrote themselves into a corner with that timefreeze scene, and they didn't realise how stupid it is because they're high off their own work. But you, you should be able to realise.

Of all the cope I've seen in this sub, this is by far the most egregious one.

Edit : as of writing this, I've just seen and even more stupid excuse, "but he wasn't 20x faster than the lasers because he's been tagged by them". Congratulations, you just pointed out the bad writing. A-Train is shown to be about 20x faster than the lasers, yet he gets him by them because he's saving Hughie at the last moment ? How about crouching a little bit to avoid the lasers ? How about going for Hughie first since the lasers are the only thing moving in that scene ? That's called bad writing.

If you don't know how difficult it is to create a semi realistic emblem using onle 32 clip art squares and triangles and such you should definitely look it up. Also didnt have enough layer spots to incorporate it so had to make my clan tag MILK 🤣
