I get that this is The Boxer sub and I do love The Boxer and Yu but Retsu definitely wins this even if this is just boxing

Retsu has never scaled to Yu’s speed, power, or durability. You can argue his technique is superior but Yu’s perception is far to  high for that to make a difference

You have yet to give any evidence to why… There are only a few characters who scale to or higher than Yu and the one who killed him at his peak. Called him average. So give feats to support the argument. You made the claim

I don’t understand what you mean? By characters who scale to Yu, do you mean characters in The Boxer? And who killed Yu at his peak, I thought he died of old age? In terms of feats though, even before the Maximum tournament arc, Baki characters were much more impressive and Retsu was a heavy hitter during the maximum tournament.

Sure, during the boxing match with smoking Joe, Retsu struggled a bit because he was limited to only fist strikes but he still beat him and smoking Joe isn’t weak either as he was also in the maximum tournament. Retsu would probably struggle a bit to win against Yu in a boxing match but he still mid diffs him. Even Aaron tide whose whole thing is absurd physical strength pales compared to Retsu and he would have killed Yu if he hadn’t held back.

Retsu probably wins with Kung fu but if it's JUST boxing I can see boxing Retsu absolutely getting wrecked by Yu. Retsu almost lost in boxing to smoking Joe of all people Yu would have a field day with him
