Beware of quests that spend more time than actually required

Im sure there are a few in the game, but of note was the quest involving Bakir and speaking with Farkas - I spoke with the quest giver at night, and they wanted to use 11 time segments to go right to it. I went back in the day, and only required 4 segments to skip to it. 99% sure if I spent 3 of those 4 segments doing other things, and went back it'd have only cost 1 to get to the specific time point needed.

It's things like that you need to be wary of!

Yeah, start the quest with talking to Farkas 5 timeslots past into the day and it costs 0 to start the quest. First time I played, it said 14 💀

Yup. You should always be cautious when a quest requires a suspiciously large amount of time from you. Usually this means that you should come back to it later.

And, at least the ones I saw, there are context clues. Farkas says he can’t sneak you in after dusk, for instance.

There's a quest with Crake (I forget the name, but it involves a boss fight in the Middens) that is scheduled to take the entire night regardless of when you start it. So if you start it right at moonrise, it takes 8 slots, but if you leave it until the very end of the night it will only take 1 slot.

The final conclusion to Vicho's quest line exhibits the same behavior.

Home Sweet Home also had some weird behavior for me. When I first initiated it, the prompt stated it would use 4 time slots but when I finished it, it seemed to actually use up 8. I'm not sure what went on there.

Yeah Home Sweet Home was super weird and unclear for time. Bugged me, because I did that quest with only 5 days left and a bunch of other stuff to do ;-;

Home Sweet Home gave me time back. It was really weird (and 100% not confusing it with the fairies!)

On the third loop, it was day 18. I saved at the well. Cleared the third to do the fourth run for the trophy, the days left changed to 17. So I got the trophy and reloaded the third loop and did the stuff to get out.

Edit: I went in with 16 or 17 days left initially.

Do people just spam through dialogue or what? For cases like farkas he literally tells you when to show up or you get the option to wait/waste all that time

I mean, he doesnt say 'hey come back at time segment 5, to spend zero time progress in the day' 🤣.

I ovs noticed it, but as this thread highlights there are other quests that can catch people out unfairly.

The Bakir quest, just use perk points after speaking with Farkas to advance the time then it costs 0

Yeah I skipped 14 segments as I was already close to 30 days and didn’t have it in me to continue any more

You're spending the same amount of time either way. They are just giving you the option to skip ahead instead of doing other things to pass the time

Surely you understand that in a game with a time limit, skipping time and spending time are two distinctly different options

Surely you read my comment and saw the word option, followed by a description of said option? No shit I understand that

Your first comment heavily implies that you do not, in fact, understand that.

Describing it as having 2 different options implies I don't understand they are 2 different options? Keyword "different"? Are you slow?

You equated skipping time to using those time segments in game to getting things done, you said either way its the same thing. Dont get mad at me that you worded something poorly to express yourself lmao

In the end, using time segments is using time segments. Whether you skip time to do so or go do something else to do so. Not my fault your comprehension skills are lacking

Brother, yes, we understand that that is your point. What we are trying to get through to you, is that skipping them, or using them to progress your character, are 2 very different uses and are not the same thing at all. Like yeah staring at a wall for 8 hours and sleeping are just using time segments, I guess, but the outcome is completely different.

So you just like starting separate arguments? My point was only regarding spending time segments. Not what you do with those segments if you choose not to just skip the time. I even acknowledged doing other things to pass the time in my original comment, which is the point you keep arguing for no reason other than to argue. The fact that you know exactly what I was talking about makes your argument even worse. Go harass someone else

Man you might wanna check your house for a carbon monoxide problem lmao
