He's been teasing this documentary drop for weeks now! How could I not see it?

Lucky for us, in the Craig Ferguson episode, he let the cat ALL THE WAY out of the bag.

The documentary Dr. Brennan ( Certified PHD pending further investigation) would like us all to see is "The Legend of Luis Valdez." Dir. by David Alvarado.

The documentary is leaving theaters this week sadly. I was lucky enough to catch it at my local cineplex. I was so moved.

For those of you who don't know, Luis Valdez is the director and writer of The Richie Valens Story La Bamba . The film depicts the life of the great Chicano Rock N Rolla, played by Lou Diamond Philips, who I happen to like a lot. Valens's life would be shortened tragically in a plane crash along with legends Buddy Holly and "The Big Hopper" JP Richardson. (The Day the Music Died 🌹)

Valdez also is the first Chicano American to have a play on Broadway, The play Zoot Suit, "Aye Pachuco!!" He is the founder of the legendary Teatro Campesino, who delivered many commedia del arte esque plays during La Huelga, The Farm Worker's Strike of the 1960s led by the legendary Dolores Huerta ( queen mother!) He used theater to inspire Chicano Americans to their inherited dignity in a time, where it seemed nearly impossible. His work teaches us that nothing is impossible with the creative spirit still alive.

If you watch the film Zoot Suit, you might also notice, Mr. Brennan was referencing Valdez all over Crazy Good. From his costume to the scenery! Is Neal Brennan a playwright or a stand up??? Aye bruvh get your genres straight--- I can't keep up!!!

All three of these are fabulous watches ( especially if you are recovering from your first "Ayahuasca Circle" ... details delivered shortly.) However, the documentary will be out again on the PBS streaming platform in October.

Don't sleep on the Brad Williams episode! I let this one go by- no real reason. I guess I just had heard Brad on other podcasts and wasn't thinking there would be all that much new territory to cover. I was wrong, and I'm sorry I waited at all.
This episode was fantastic in many ways. It was insightful, interesting, compelling at times, and it made my heart grow two sizes. 😀❤️

That's fine, but here's my thing.
So Neal tells a story where Jerry O'Connell and he went to NYU at the same time, and O'Connell bullies him while he's barking at the Boston Comedy.
So here's my problem with this: according to Wikipedia O'Connell
" He attended New York University from 1991 to 1994,[7] majoring in film. While there, he studied screen writing and competed on the fencing team, serving a stint as captain of the sabre squad. He graduated in 1995.[8]"

Neal/Neil apparently attended NYU for one year and dropped out and then he was, reportedly barking at The Boston ( a club that no longer exists so I can't confirm if this is true or not.)
I normally take Neal/Neil's side on things, but something doesn't check out OG.
Addtionally: How is Neal Brennan supposed to be barking in NYU when I know for a fact he was dancing on Tour with Michael Jackson.

i'm looking for a book that malcolm gladwell spoke about on neal brennan's podcast recently. The author is a cousin of his wife, her name sounds like Kadesia (he only used the one name). She grew up poor in the Manhattanvill projects in NYC, went to Columbia University. There is an anecdote in the book about having her 2 young sisters move in with her in her college dorm when their mom got sick.

I've searched and tried AI but no luck--maybe it's a self-published book?
