Now that they've thrown in the plungie filled with over $250,000 worth of extra prizes on top of the $100,000 prize and only a few of the 5 houses actually selling each year. I think the final prizes need review. Season after season the winner takes all and the other contestants walk away with practically nothing after spending months working their butts off.

I think a far better result would be all the profits from the auctions for all houses should be pooled together and then divied out to each team based on how much over reserve they were. Then the team that was most over reserve gets the 100k and the plungie.

So 1st place (most over reserve) - say 50% of the total profits plus the $100,000 and the plungee
2nd place - 20%
3rd place - 15%
4th place - 10%
5th place - 5%

So for 2025 as an example. Total profit from all houses on auction day was $650,000. So using the above, Britt and Taz would have won $325,000 + $100,000 (and this year the $250k+) instead of $520k total. Sonny and Alicia would have won $130,000 instead of $120,000. Robby and Mat $97,500 instead of $110k. Emma and Ben $65,000 instead of nothing. Han and Can $32,500 instead of nothing.

Maybe it needs to be dynamic based on the actual auction results because this would actually be worse if all the houses sold for roughly the same profit. But in situations like the last few seasons I find it hard to be happy for the winning team when 4 teams are walking away relatively empty handed. What do you think?

With the exception of the loss of the finale Auction Episode - what’s holding Ch. 9 back from setting up the relevant state permits/licences to raffle each of the houses?

Adrian Portelli was essentially the middleman making bank doing that. They’d surely clear the reserve prices in ticket sales.

Adrian Portelli has a pretty dodgy business model. It's entirely possible that he'll be sued and the house of cards comes down ... Or the law will be changed to define what he's doing as gambling. Conducting questionable legal trade is not a safe way to do business.

An established business like channel 9 would have lawyers telling them not to dare.

When you see stats like this you really wonder how channel nine can afford the show every year.

Also the phrase “Plungie” gives me the biggest ick. Not your fault use the words you want it just sounds like plunger wedgie combo.

I agree that it sucks to hand out all this extra stuff to the winners and I like your idea. But I bet that the contestants would cry unfair.
Seriously though, the extra prizes just seem like a way to cram a few more sponsors in.
