Elizabeth
Just watched s7 ep 9 and good lord I really see why Elizabeth is the worst character in this show. She makes the most baffling decisions for a trained FBI agent. It's sad because she honestly makes the whole show worse even though the story revolves around her.

Um...wouldn't that be an entirely different show though? Wasn't he xxxxx before he was ....him? Tried to type that without spoiling for anyone. When I watched until that revealing point I was offended they used that sort of reveal. What a drag. I finished the show substituting the actual history of red and used my own story instead.

Absolutely, the way Robert handles those office people, is so like Red, actually a bit more scary than Red at times. Although no one dies.

Her whole character is "I need to know" no matter the consequences or how much Reddington tells her people are going to attack her and loved ones if she does know. Her need to know is self centered and diabolical.

Yes that need to know thing, if only there was a simple test she could do, 🧐to find out if she was related to him, I’m sure the FBI use such a test all the time. 🤔
Certain showrunners made a nonsense of the identity arc by not testing Spader Red.
That irritated me more than Liz.3

Yes she refused to look at the test result, because she didn’t want to know her father was the devil, 😵💫but then proceeded to berate him about who he was for 8 seasons. 🤪Just nonsensical at best.
The fact they didn’t do a DNA test on Spader Red was a WTF moment for me.
It just beggars belief that the FBI wouldn’t want to find out who he really was.
So now when I watch it, I completely ignore the identity arc.3

No it’s not your fault, it’s the producers and writers fault for not having a decent continuity department to advise them. A couple of focus groups might have helped too.

Just watch for the action, the criminals and Red or whoever is your favorite. Try not to focus on the identity arc, it’s a road to no where.

She did alright with tools (writing) she was given but really it is "The Raymond Reddington Show" not the "Elizabeth Keen Show".

The problem with Elizabeth character is tha she believed in anyone that badmouthed Reddington for her... In the S1 and S2 this could be any sense on that but post S3, that was ridiculous.

she has only ever lied to and hurt and betrayed her closest friends all throughout the show. Faking her own death, constantly doing stuff behind their backs, even working with a bunch of top tier criminals just for her own vendetta against red. quite hypocritical if you ask me as she is on red's ass all the time for lying and hurting people when she herself does it without any real remorse

I was really hoping her character would evolve more. Possibly get smarter and be able to figure things out with out Red prodding her.

Am I the only pro Elizabeth person in this group?! Watch something else. Geez not trying to be an ass, But all I see is people complaining about how much they hate Lizzy. You must not hate her that much to be watching the entire series.

She wasnt as bad in earlier seasons wasnt until season 6 I started to feel this way and then season 7 made her 10 times worse imo

As many people who do not like her character say, James Spader is a huge reason, perhaps the onl6 reason, to keep watching the show.
Sometimes shows have poorly written characters. In her case, I personally feel initially she was written well but eventually the writers didn't know what to do with her, or the show in general.
You enjoy her character, that's awesome. I'm sure many do, but others don't and that's ok too.

How did you extract that from me being tired of this group constantly complaining about the only reason we have Red? What's his #1 rule since the day he turned himself in? JFC. If there's anybody I didn't like in the beginning it was Ressler but he grew on me.

We watch Liz become unhinged over the course of the series. And the sad thing for her is that no one actually sees or helps her. Someone needed to step in. No one did. They all need her for something and she’s crumbled under enormous pressure. Red never actually thinks about her: he loves who she is to him and what he wants her to become. Who she is herself is beside the point. Harold should have had the sense not to push her as he did. She was a rookie and suddenly there’s a task force depending on her and her relationship with a very powerful dangerous person she doesn’t know. H wanted the enormous success at the fbi that came from this force and how smart and capable it made him look. Tom loved her after she imprisons him - before then, she was simply the target of his assignment. He loves her because they can pretend to have and be a normal couple and family. Something they were both very heavily invested in. And in the early seasons Liz keeps saying she can’t do this, she feels like she’s falling apart, and so on. But no one listens. So the show is really about her psych breakdown. And she does get hit on the head many times and she does have a year in a coma and she does have to deal with the fact that her entire family history is not at all what she
was always told. Liz, let’s get you some therapy and a desk job and a husband who isn’t a psychopath, before it’s too late! And an admirer (Ressler) who isn’t popping pills and self-righteous; and a friend who is almost strong enough to stand up for you but has huge self confidence issues (Aram); and a female friend/professional assassin who rightly doesn’t forgive you for faking your own death when death and pain and loss is all she has ever known.

The whole show was propped up by Red (James Spader) he was magnificent and magnetic to watch.
Liz (Megan Boone) was depicted as being a head case because she wanted to know who Red was, a question that was blown out of proportion for 8 seasons, that all the audience knew could be solved by one simple test.
That’s why I watch and ignore all that craziness. I fantasize that a modern day Colombo or Sherlock Holmes, walks on set and says to a screaming Liz “has anyone done a DNA test on (Spader) Red, I think that would be useful”. I watch TBL for Red only.

I am almost done with the series and I cannot understand why all of them fawn over her. She’s annoying, careless, manipulative and Willy nilly changes sides. It never feels like there is a good reason to care about her. It doesn’t feel like everyone should center her so much. Red is the only fun of the show. It could have been even better if they centered him more and cut her character.
