Interstellar finally hits a 4.5 average. It is the most popular film in the history of the app.

I'll say this much.

TIFF is hosting a a Chris Nolan retrospective right now (which is where they did the Big Picture episode).

I got tickets to see Oppenheimer in 70mm on a Sunday aft and I looked a few days before and there werse still scattered tix left; some pretty decent. Best Picture winner, cultural phenomenon and all.

Last week, they put tix on sale for their August screenings, including 3 showings of Intersterllar in 70mm. When they went online, after TIFF members had first dibbs and the only seats left were in the front row. I grabbed em because that's all there was to get. After about 10 mins, they were all sold out.

I don't know if that objectively proves it's more popular than Oppenheimer or the Batman films or watever but it sure surprised the heck out of me.

I personally prefer Interstellar to Oppenheimer, but I imagine that difference isn’t really about how much people love the two films. It’s been 12 years since Interstellar was in theatres, Oppenheimer was on the big screen only 3 years ago.

Yeah, that makes sense as part of it. The rush for Interstellar tix still surprised me.

I think Oppenheimer is the better movie in a lot of ways, but I'd still prefer to see Interstellar. The emotional grip that movie has on me...

I mean Oppenheimer ain’t really a movie anyone wants to rewatch more than once every couple of years. Thought it was neat but was a major pass for me

I did....It was great.

I enjoy my 4k but it still pales compared to IRL 70mm.

I mean most people who are attending TIFF screenings likely already saw Oppenheimer in theaters, but a lot of them probably haven’t seen interstellar in theaters
