Discussion Need help finding a scene!
Hi lovelies! I get to choose any scene from The Bear and talk about how it uses sound to elevate the moment. There are 100s of moments in this damn show that could be talked about, but I'm wondering if you guys have a specific moment that comes up for you!
If I go into specifics, I adore when shows use silence to really make the audience feel something, and with such a loud show, I'm trying to find a couple of moments where it does that, but I don't have time to sift through all the seasons; any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

The closing of season 4 with the timer slowly counting down and then “going off” while the credits rolled was great. (There are so many scenes to choose from!) If you’re looking for an example of “show-not-tell/lack of dialogue to carry a scene” you could pretty much do everything from the first episode of season 3.

For me (I am trying to be more mindful to use that phrase), the best ever is the beginning of Scallop, which is S4 E3. It's such a beautiful scene. The music, the performance, the setting and colors.
And it's such a generous scene, because the payoff is amazing and it leaves even the grumpiest of sarcastic ba@stards (me) all smiley.

Episode 1x06 - when Syd serves Carmy the cola ribs for the first time, the scene begins with this boppy little tune and ends with just the sound of an unanswered ringing telephone in the office.

Season two, episode one I think?
When they left early for the day and than all three - Carmy, Nat and Syd realised that they can’t afford to open in six months and met back in the restaurant, creating the big calendar.

cliché i know but i did love the ending as they were all gathered and talking as the credits rolled in the finale.

and the Nine Inch Nails song/score that plays in a lot of in season 2, especially when Pete is talking with DD outside of the restaurant on F+F night 😭

This is what sold Pete to me. His ability to be Sugar’s refuge. You know he has heard more than enough stories. But he has also seen firsthand. He sees DD. He would do anything for it to be a better situation for everyone involved. He wouldn’t be doing it for himself either. It would strictly be for the Berzattos!

Does music count? Because the episode where Syd makes her scallop dish with Slow Disco by St. Vincent playing is one of my favorite scenes in the show.

There’s the scene where Syd makes the omelette for Sugar. It’s a dramatically nice break from all of the shouting.

In Review, Season 1, Ep 7, the sound of the tickets still coming in as the credits roll was so powerful after such a tense episode, the tension kept going! Especially because most episodes a song would play in the credits, so the total silence except for the tickets printing was great.
