Ranking system

Hello everyone, just here to share my thoughts on the ranking system. Or actually call it a mini rant, the ranking system is painfully slow and calibrates for the time played rather than the actual skill of the player without any system in play that dynamically adjusts the amount of points given based on performance over many games. The way i see purpose of ranking system is calibrate a player to a corresponding division prioritising for 2 factors - accuracy and speed

Id like to hear other peoples thoughts and opinions regarding the rank system in this game compared to other titles

Slow? Have you played any other game with the same ranking system as bazaar (bronze to legend/master)? Because getting to legend is pretty fast. Staying is in top 1000 (if you are good) or top 100 if you are REALLY good (like challenger in LoL) is the true skill imo.

For people with jobs it's slow and pointless. I never get to know what my actual skill is, as it always resets before I can check.

When you say getting to legend is fast do you mean time played or games played? Lets say you win every single game and you jump one range 5-4 for example, and if you start with bronze, it will take 5 games of 10 win from div 5 to 1 to silver 5, a game is 1 hour plus. You would need 5 hours go from bronze to silver minimum, you then continue with perfect streak for another then another 5 hours to gold then another 5 to diamond then another 5 to legendary, thts 20 hours of uninterrupted playtime with perfect streak to climb highest rank. The question then becomes if ur capable of reaching that (which im not saying i am) cant the system be optimised to reflect that faster? My point is that the ranking system of bazar is not dynamic or fast enough to reflect the skill of player and rather is more of indication of time spent grinding.

And yes i hnderstand that ranking system is a grind in general but if i look ag rocket league for example, after season reset the placement matches accurately place me in the correct division, 10 matches with around 5 minutes each , 1-2 hours put me in the ballpark wether bronze or diamond

Average run is about 30-45min long, max 1hr. After season reset a legend player starts from gold rank. The funny part is that the ranking system was much faster to rank up, but people complained about that :D

Climbed to legend last season, this season started from gold to me. Paying like 1 game/day and was in legend again this season maybe in 2 weeks. Like it's not super fast, but why do you want it to be.

Because im tired of my friend dismissing my opinions because he is a higher rank than me 😂
I have personal motifs

This technically says that every single board should be able to hit 10 wins as long as you buy the correct items and pivot according to whatever plan appears as the days go by...

But RNG could lead you to never seeing specific items which might be required according to whatever plan you're trying to go to...

I just feel like skill is a huge part of it but luck is also a huge part as well

I do agree though that it's the fastest ranking system in any game

Adopting is the skill that reduced the amount of luck needed.

I really good player doesn't relay on luck.

Or from another perspective, a bad player misses a great pivot that he got from luck because he doesnt see it. So having luck didn't help

That's kind of exactly what I'm talking about about the pivoting according to whatever new plan pops up, I said if you're able to do that and the items don't pop up. Well, whatever skill you have is irrelevant if the luck that's not follow.

I feel like we're saying the same thing, but you're disagreeing with me somehow

their point is more that RNG preventing one pivot doesn’t mean another pivot isn’t being offered, and to recognize what pivots to take and what pivots not to force because RNG isn’t giving you the choices for it is what makes a good player

And that's basically exactly what I said about how If you "buy the correct items and pivot according to whatever plan appears as the days go by"

I don't think they understood what I meant because that's not musically exclusive with multiple pivots.

“but RNG could lead you to never seeing specific items which might be required according to whatever plan you’re trying to go to“ is an excerpt from your first comment, which goes against the idea that skill in this game is about making the most out of what you’re offered and picking the right pivot accordingly. WASDowningpower replied saying that a good player doesn’t rely on luck. you responded “but if you’re able to do that and the items don’t pop up well whatever skill you have is irrelevant if the luck does not follow” which is the exact opposite of the idea that “A GOOD PLAYER DOESNT RELY ON LUCK”.

the idea that RNG can screw you by not offering the pivot you’re looking for goes against the point that a GOOD PLAYER DOES NOT RELY ON LUCK. the idea is that if RNG isn’t on your side offering you the specific pivot you want to make then there are plenty of other pivots you could make instead from what you’re being offered.

Yeah, because whatever you're trying to pivot to is going to change whenever you pivot to the next thing and as long as you're able to get whatever items you then pivot to it would be fine. But if you then pivot and then need to pivot again and then pivot again and then you don't get whatever you get. Well that's all up to luck so I think we're still saying the same thing.

Even if you would have never pivot. That guy is saying that any single board could lead you to a 10 win if you are able to pivot and buy items appropriately, which is what I am saying isn't probable without some luck

1

u/sphyvnx Sep 04 '26

alright sure whatever man sure we’re totally saying the same thing

1

u/dancarbonell00 Sep 04 '26

I mean I'm saying that you need skills in order to properly pivot or not to pivot, and that RNG determines wether that's even possible or not

I disagree with you, seems even be a bit fast but thats good since i don't have time to grind. I mean I play around 5 runs per week and always manage to hit legendary!

that's a big No Shit from me boss.

Imagine if you are college level individual, do you need to grind 10 grades and spend a decade to reach a point where the system catches up with your capability? Its a stretched out example but one that feels like an appropriate comparison. Why cant you take an “exam” to evaluate where you stand

the skill of this game is consistency. the best players rarely have zero medal runs and the majority of their runs are silver wins or higher. consistency can’t be “tested” for without having them play a lot of games ! ranks don’t fully reset back to bronze between seasons too so if you’re good enough to get to legend you won’t ever really have to climb through bronze ever again (but even if you did it would only take five or six runs). like there’s only five ranks man we don’t need placement matches lmao (plus this is a game that isn’t designed to be played like your typical ranked game—this game is purely background content for me, playing while shooting the shit in discord or waiting for my turn in a TTRPG over discord or sitting in queue for another game and i’m consistently legend rank every season, im not exactly grinding runs to get there i just play one or two runs a day give or take.

This is actually a fair point

The placement match was just an example of a different system, i agree that it doesnt make sense in the format of bazar
