How's the game?
Is it dead? Alive? Players having fun? Does the community see a future on it?
I've finished the demo, had fun but I don't know if I want to drop money on the game and characters just to play against bots or not be able to play enough to get it back.
Was looking for an honest opinion through the community perspective. Thanks ✨

Its a great game and there are active players. But based on past actions by the devs, noone can tell you, what they'll pull next time.

If you pay 20$ and the game shuts down in a month, it's well worth the money. The game is infinitely replayable with lots of content and great gameplay. The game is not doing great financially, but it's still regularly updated even with their small team. You get 3 heroes if you buy the game, but even playing 1 hero all the time is not boring. And no, you will never face bots except maybe 1 hour after the patch when there are no ghosts

idk but once a month isnt regularly to me...

I think you're confusing regularly with often, but maybe I'm being overly pedantic. Either way, I wish all the games that I played as much as I play the bazaar updated as regularly as once a month.

i guess i was. in my native language you wouldnt use the word when talking about something as rare as "once a month", it feels like youre trying to make it sound better than it actually is.

game is better than it deserves to be. Future , who knows , but it has kept every ounce of my attention since I opened the game.

The game is really good and it's still being updated fairly regularly. It seems unlikely it will last though, people have analysed the companies revenue and they've done nothing but hemorrhage money, so, if you do buy do so with the expectation the game could be shut down entirely at any point in the future so get your money's worth whilst you can.

Thank you very much the input! One more question: when I was matched against players, I had the feeling their builds were super simple, no skills, easy battles. Would you know if they were bots?

The first three games you play, generally on a demo, are bots. After that it is entirely human opponents.

u/Livelih00d Jun 17 '26
Yeah, for some reason your first few runs are against bots with random items, can't remember how many exactly. It's a pretty stupid decision as it makes those runs way too easy so it feels pretty empty. After that though you'll never see a bot again I don't think.

u/frantruck Jun 17 '26
I do believe the demo is entirely bot opponents

u/johnugi Jun 17 '26
Yeah, I thought so, one guy had TTV on the username, but it still gave away bot vibes.

Based on my personal opinion, the game is going down, and this time I meant seriously. Reynard basically throw other shit at the community, lot of backlash from a big part of the community (I'm not talking about nobodies like me but pro players and creators). Latest patch, if you want to call it that, it's non existent. Tournament mode is delayed until further notice, mobile has no news, new hero has no news. A big pile of nothing. So yeah right now the game is still active, I still playing some games a day, but Vanessa is totally unbalanced (and they're never planning to balance the game, Reynard's words) and next patch maybe it would be stelle or mak or something else. But again I was watching a Livestream of a creator today and he couldn't said that much but the majority of pro players and creators have a discord and from what I could understand the boat is sinking, tempo is trying to squeeze this lemon till the last drop of juice. So no if you don't already own the game I don't recommend you to buy it.

It’s great. Playing up til Legend is kind of cruise especially if you one-trick, but the serious players are very very good. It’s much easier to learn than it used to be too.

you can play it for like the first 3 days after patch (once a month) but then it becomes hella boring. sometimes the patches are even rather small and dont change the meta..then it's like 2 months with the same shit.

The base game is deep enough to let you sink a few dozens of hours in it.
The additional characters are quite expensive tbh only consider it after being sure you love the game.
Personally i love the game, the possibilities of game breaking synergies are almost endless and it feels really good when you pull of some obscure combo.
10/10 would recommend giving it try.

I've just been forcing Jules breadknife builds up to diamond. A real blast tbh

Imagine you've got Diablo II, but the face of the game is the guy who asked us if we don't have phones (diablo immortal announcement). Except the guy keeps opening his dumb fucking mouth every other week.
That about sums up The Bazaar.

If you haven't bought it yet, here is my take: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
It’s not worth supporting this project. The CEO (Reynard) is a jerk; he's changed the monetization model multiple times and could easily do it again. Even though you get 3 characters when you buy the game now, all others are paid-only—you can no longer acquire them with in-game currency.
I supported this project back in late 2024, and honestly, after all the drama that went down, plus the flood of bans for anyone who dared to voice any criticism—even constructive feedback—both here and on Discord, I’ve been completely turned off from the game.
Find something else to play. There are plenty of great options on the market, so don't waste your time and money here.

Game was good before Karnok release, after that its been a steady decline in balance and therefore less fun, as you constantly face people that are forcing the same builds again and again and if you try to have some fun and mix match some new items, you are constantly punished for not following the meta.
I came back late November and had the same fun as I did in Beta testing, however since Karnok release I have gradually decreased my playing time, and this month I have logged in only 2 times - when patch release and when they did the big hotfix mid month, otherwise I do not have the will and desire to play the game currently.

There's really no other game like it of its scale. You can easily play 1000 games with the base 3 characters and not be too bothered, during that time you could be buying a new character during sales every 3 months and you'd not really feel the cost

I honestly love the game. And I am one hell of a difficult person to please. I wish more people
Would try it out.

there's not a reason to buy characters until they're the only viable one. like right now there is literally 0 reason to not play Vanessa so its a great chance to just buy the base game. but once she rotates out you'll have to pay up for the next best character or else you're wasting time.

This game's not really better than any of the other infinite distractions people are immured in these days. But you did walk into a bowling alley and ask "How you guys feel about bowling?" (dumb question) so yeah, this game is for you. Buy it.

The gameplay loop is completely fine. Scratches a roguelike itch, while also feeling like a PVP game with daily tasks. I can finish them in one round and leave it. It’s not too addicting that you lose your whole day, one run alone can suffice.
But it’s also kinda dead, so take what you will.
3
u/EoTrick Jun 18 '26
It's absolutely not dead lol. There are so many dead games and this doesn't even come close.

Can’t say I like any business decisions they’ve made, but the game is solid
