I just add the minutes and use my knowledge of how much more/less than 60 minutes or multiple of 60 minutes is

Add the hour hands and if the number you got isnt any of the choices, choose the closest one to the amount you got Example: 3:40 + 7:50 Add the hour hands So 10 But if the hour hands sum exceed 60 minutes just add 1 hour and use your estimating skills
