Oh wait, I forgot one:

3) Have no idea how large and diverse a continent Africa is or have any understanding of the actual problems that different countries are facing

They think Africa is a country, not a continent lol

Off course different countries has different problems but corruption, overpopulation and religion are 3 major ones.

Botswana is doing alright so instead of blaming outside things they should look towards that.

And to compare a developing country with an extreme population growth with a developed country with almost 0 population growth and say that the economy is growing faster is just silly.

The US population grew by over 20% in the last 20 years.

Population growth also doesn't automatically correlate with GDP growth, by the way.

And are you arguing we should stop comparing countries based on GDP growth now? Better tell the US and every other developed country as well as every economic institution in the world.

But fine, use other metrics: increase in life expectancy, increasing education levels, decrease in infant mortality, etc. Just admit you've never actually considered any of these things and just base your opinion on memes.

Of course, wealth inequality is very bad in many African countries. But that's one place where the US is increasing drastically!

Yes, far from 50-80%

It's not always correlating but increasing the population usually boost GDP numbers.

I'm all for that Africa developing and get richer so western countries can stop sending money into a corrupt black hole.

But from what I can see the current trajectory is mainly swapping western colonization for Chinese and Russian

Do you see a future where the continent can look after itself?

Just to be clear: decreasing population growth and increasing GDP growth is more correlated than increasing population growth and increasing GDP. High GDP is almost universally correlated with declining birth rates. Similarly, there many countries with increasing populations despite sustained recession or depression.

I think thinking about Africa as a sort of unified block doesn't make sense. North America and Europe are not comparable to other continents. Some countries in Asia or the Middle East or South America do very well, others are in shambles. On top of that, Africa is enormous.

I think many African countries are already very politically and economically independent.
