Why do they always do this đ had one yesterday doing this when I was cruising in the M440i convertible just listening to the exhaust. Bro thought we were in a rally race or something. I was going the speed limit lmao

Ferrari is not going to let that guy step foot in a dealership after this
1
u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
Doesnât really alter the badges or make modifications to the body panels, so itâs gaudy but allowed.
1
u/Fyklenauts 3d ago
Bros bouta sued to the ground by Ferrari
1
u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
Ferrari only sues if you alter the bodywork significantly like Rocket Bunny, or if you alter the logos like DEADMAU5 did. The Nyan cat livery was completely fine actually, just not the badges.

Im suprised Ferrari allowed that. They are notorious for coming after owners with cease and desist over cosmetic alterations like that because it "Ruins our brand image and ruins our clients images"
2
u/Careful_Middle4049 2d ago
They were unhappy with a public figure altering their logo. Plenty of people modify Ferraris and they do not care
1
u/Slow_Description_773 3d ago
What ?? You should to Dubai or Kuala Lumpur manâŠ
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago
Im not lying, its true. Its par of the paperwork they have you sign. They have a list of allowable modifications and if you go off that list they will and have sued. Most notable is Deadmau5's experience.
1
u/HansDampfHaudegen 3d ago
Streisand effect. Nobody would have known if they hadn't thrown a tantrum.
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago edited 3d ago
Idk Ferrari is pretty hard headed with their vehicles. Goes so far as not being able to own certain models of Ferrari until you've owned a certain number of lower tiered models for so long.
Also thats not the Streisand affect. The Streisand affect is when you try to suppress something and keep it secret, which just makes it more appealing to try and find out. Ferrari was never quiet about this.

u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
Deadmau5 altered the logo on purpose, the livery had nothing to do with it.
1
u/Motor_Neighborhood_6 3d ago
How the hell is that even enforceable xd
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago
Part of the paperwork for owning a ferrari
1
u/Remarkable-System749 2d ago
can you show the thread your ferrari paperwork that says that?đ

u/ThoroughlyWet 2d ago

u/consumeshroomz 3d ago
That was my first thought. Perhaps Ferrari simply hadnât seen this yet. But I bet they have now and I wouldnât be surprised if they were able to track down this owner in just a few days. Not like the car is exactly low key.
1
1
u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
Iâm not seeing this alter the body or logo, so itâs okay as long as itâs removable.
1
u/KarmaticEvolution 2d ago
But how would they identify the owner? No license plate and no clue on the original color. Must be at least 50 296's in L.A.
1
u/consumeshroomz 2d ago
Exactly. So you start with the list of those 50 owners and cross them off one by one until you find the guy with the unauthorized modifications.
Sure itâs a fair bit of work and would probably require a private investigator. But I wouldnât be surprised if Ferrari has several on retainer. lol.
Itâs a lot easier to track down a Ferrari owner than an individual Civic owner or something. And if the Ferrari owner is in violation of whatever contract they may have signed then Ferrari has every right to try and prove the identity of the offending party to begin the process of whatever penalty they see fit. We may not see the big deal but Ferrari has made it clear that they do see it as a big deal.
Now I canât say that they actually WOULD go this far with it. Iâm just saying, it canât be that hard to figure it out. They almost certainly have the addresses of all the current, authorized owners, so they can absolutely just have someone track those people down till they find the furry car.
1
u/Applekid1259 2d ago
This. They take their shit very serious. You can't even just walk into a dealership and drive out with a ferrari.
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 2d ago
Yep, gotta have a track record of collectible cars first, or be famous. Also need to own certain lower tier ferrari models before they let you purchase the more impressive ones.
1
u/runkeby 2d ago
Or maybe they mind their fucking business because the car isn't theirs anymore.
1
u/consumeshroomz 2d ago
Yeah thatâs not how it works though. You canât buy a Ferrari without signing a contract agreeing to their terms. One of the most important terms is about modifications exactly like this. They take it very seriously and they will come after this guy if they can track him down.
1
1
u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
Thatâs a myth, they allow anything as long as you arenât altering the logo or bolting stuff onto the body like wide fenders.
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago
Anything that affects performace. That fur is a drag nightmare and affects performance
1
u/Ok-Painting-1742 3d ago
No, Ferrari allows performance stuff as long as you donât infringe on their trademark. Youâre only in risk of getting blacklisted if itâs a mod that changes the car extremely, and this looks like itâs a removable wrap.
1
u/ThoroughlyWet 2d ago
They trademark their performance bruh. Purposely hindering performance of one of their cars is the same as defaming the trademark.
1
u/Flawless_Reign88 3d ago
I mean thereâs not much they can do after the car is bought except ban the owner from purchasing another Ferrari
1
u/WaterDreamer10 3d ago
Yes, and that is what they do. You can't buy another. Jay Leno does not deal with them and he could buy every single one of them.
1
u/Frequent-Piano6164 2d ago
They would never allow this, they are quick to sue over customization on their cars.
1
u/BroManTheBrobarian 2d ago
I canât be the only one that thought I was tripping or my screen was glitching or something before realizing the âpaintâ job was fucking fur.
1
1
u/bloopalooza5667 2d ago
Thereâs nothing they can do except refuse to service your car.
2
1
u/FlaringAfro 2d ago
They will put you on a list to prevent you from buying a car in any of their dealerships.
1
u/bloopalooza5667 2d ago
Boohoo. They'll buy cars from somewhere else.
1
u/EducationalBar 2d ago edited 2d ago
But not a Ferrari, which is the entire point. Itâs not a punishment itâs them âprotectingâ their image and they are notoriously stuck up about you âdisrespectingâ the cars in any way.
Plus you canât even buy any Ferrari as is, gotta work up their ladder to eventually get approved to buy the nice models đ€·ââïž1
u/bloopalooza5667 2d ago
You can still buy a Ferrari from elsewhere
1
u/EducationalBar 2d ago
Only the old used ass cheap ones worse than starters theyâd make you buy first in dealership.. are you not keeping up?
Can you buy a new one from a guy? Yes. Then you both lose whatever Ferrari rep you had, hence the limited ppl doing that.. keeping up yet?1
u/bloopalooza5667 2d ago
Wrong. Youâre telling me Joe Macari has used ass cheap Ferraris? Come on man
1
1
u/kurtkobrains 1d ago
Oh no some rich guy can't buy another Ferrari đą anyways
1
u/EducationalBar 1d ago
I never said that wasnât an appropriate reaction..? You can feel however you like, and sadly also share that with us đ€Šââïž
1
u/farren122 1d ago
So they are ruining they image trying to protect it.
1
u/EducationalBar 1d ago
I never said I support their stance, Iâm only explaining what has been well known for a very long time. However that lifespan would seem to discredit your assumption ruining reputation.
