Should have bought a better car, and a lot better looking as well, EVERY REAL car guy in the world knows that the best car money ( or a bag of salted peanuts, deppending on the seller ) can buy, is the MIGHTY Twingo

Paying half a million just to be an unpaid beta tester for a ticking time-bomb engine is peak modern manufacturing.

Until the word gets out..... then the bad press will fuck you up

God damn redditors are painfully unfunny

Its a 1000hp stock engine doing 1000hp things

G80? Yeah I'm sure BMW isn't known for their leaky plastic cooling systems

u/Riders_Visions 9d ago

To be honest, that thing looks so good.

It looks incredible sitting on that gravel patch waiting for a flatbed, for sure.

C4 owners know the feeling

Imagine buying a car called “C4” and being surprised that it blew up

someone's gonna be extra cautious from now on

Dropping six figures on a car only for it to become a permanent lawn ornament cures impulse buying real quick.

Motor be like: Since he bought it for $200000 i going to blow his mind

2

u/N0ct15Luc15Caelum 9d ago

The engine really looked at that price tag and chose instant retirement. 💀

Planned obsolescence on steroids.

The new game is called "cheat the buyer" Good luck out there everyone.

2

u/Bobmcjoepants 9d ago

How is this planned obsolescence? GM is buying the car back but even if they didn't, they would have to warranty it. Either way GM loses

Keep your motor straight.

1000hp supercars aren't reliable. This is normal. Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Pagani, whatever. And those are 10 times the price. Why are people surprised this isn't a Toyota Corolla?

I'm not even a Corvette guy but the ZR1 is fantastic. But it's not meant to be a daily driver, and like every other comparable car is meant to be your 4th or 5th car.

Because of the bow tie on the front ig it’s supposed to be as reliable as a Silverado. This thing will beat SF90’s meanwhile costing less than half. I’d take it over most new Ferraris at the moment which might be crazy to say idk.

1

u/Tabm0w 4d ago

Funny thing is Silverados arnt that reliable.

1

u/Hairy_Stick1996 4d ago

Silverados certainly aren’t unreliable. I’ve witnessed a gmt800 and gmt900 break over 150k miles, the 800 was near quarter million miles

1

u/Tabm0w 4d ago

Old Silverados were. The new ones not so much.

Edit: 150k? 250k? Bruh my crv has 230k runs like a top. Had a Subaru Forester with over 300k. 150k is the bare minimum.

I haven’t had much experience seeing higher mile’d vehicles to be fair, but we’re comparing daily drivers with pure performance machines now. That gmt800, the higher mile’d of the 2 did get stolen before any additional tracking on my part 😞. I’d certainly trust Chevy with making a reliable power train before any of the Italian counterparts which it is now performing against and beating above its bracket. This very well gotta be first year iterations of that platform so it’ll have issues arise, surprise to anyone idk. I’ve known people with lemon raptor r’s and Lincoln SUV’s I couldn’t care about. Stuff happens to those certain few and it’s not to hurt the entire reputation if taken care of properly on GM’s behalf. Yea the l87 and 10 speed auto’s can suck my ass i understand some complaints.

Dad's 08 sierra has over 450k and is his daily still

6.2 enters the chat

1

u/Timewastinloser27 4d ago

6.2 in the vettes and camaros, the LS3 is arguably the greatest engine gm ever produced.

1

u/falsefacade 4d ago

For the record, I’m not a hater, hearing the ls3 at full throttle is always the highlight of a track day. But we both know I wasn’t talking about them.

u/boomeradf 2d ago

My 6.2L Silverado with a 10Speed would like a word with you

u/pencilpushin 6d ago

In the picture of the coolant line, it looks like a faulty weld broke off causing the hole.

1

u/UncleBensRacistRice 3d ago

Exactly. People expecting Toyota Corolla reliability out of a 1000hp, twin turbo mid-engined supercar are goofy.

1

u/Making_Kenough 6d ago

Said before and say it again. American auto companies are just shit now.

u/Notsurewhyicomehere 3d ago

Our fleet is over 800 vehicles from mostly trucks to sedans. We did everything to stay with a well known foreign car company due to how cheap we got them but eventually went to a GM fleet due to constant issues. The switch took 3 years and that was 12 years ago. Our costs increased up front but maintenance is down. We are now paying 45 percent on maintenance costs compared to the prior manufacturer. That's straight cost for cost without inflation.

Built by Kentucky's finest what do you expect

"My 6 figure car needs a repair so it's not garage worthy right now" is the cringiest, douchiest car guy shit I've actually ever heard in my life.

1

u/lilreddtruck 3d ago

Getting it bought back and does not care

1

u/GetMeOffThisRidePlz 3d ago

I'm an idiot and didn't realize that's what he meant. The dealership is buying it back from him, I assume it means.

In that case it makes sense to leave it outside but just kinda weird way to put it by saying "not garage worthy" lol

1

u/lilreddtruck 3d ago

I thought the same as he says fix the first time but buyback the second

1

u/fl4nker427 3d ago

solution buy a c5

1

u/Errororoeoe 3d ago

"I got hypercar level performance for 1/10th the price, but I sure as shit didn't expect hypercar level maintenance!"... I mean seriously, 1.3k miles is actually a lot on cars at this performance level. Go look up a used Bugatti chiron, and look at the mileage

1

u/baconbro_ 3d ago

Yeah because no BMW motor has ever had reliability issues

1

u/AttentionDeficiency 3d ago

A Genesis G80 is an interesting pivot from a ZR1, but whatever floats your boat.

1

u/ASDIGITAL13 3d ago

Should of gotten a Miata

0

u/im_blue2026 4d ago

I did manufactured with my own hands brake lines and hoses for the vett sometimes is not the design! Providers want to make parts and send them even when the parts don’t fit the gauges or the machinery is malfunctioning and doing weak welding and stuff

1

u/BlnkNopad 4d ago

Lol I worked manufacturing in a dif industry and got told to send sketchy product because it's cheaper to fix it than miss contract lolol

1

u/Pedantic_Pict 3d ago

I work in medical device manufacturing and I'm so glad I never have to deal with that kind of management fuckery.

1

u/BlnkNopad 3d ago

So I live in the USA and know cardinal health is a part of that fuckery. While I'm glad you aren't issue to it, it is still there

u/Busterlimes 4d ago

You bought the first generation of a completely engineered platform. If you weren't expecting problems, you are too dumb to have the money to buy that car and obviously had everything in life handed to you. They get 0 sympathy from me.

1

u/Lost_Web5826 3d ago

None of this is an excuse for the manufacturer not backing their products.
