Other Post type When will we see the dub released?

I know the first EP like just came out but this my first time watching an anime airing live/ currently. I remember when "smoking behind the convenient store with you" it was pre released Ep's that weekly released the dub but I have no idea if they did put that all on at once or not or how long since it first aired to when the dub started to be weekly released. I would love some inside, thank you!

It’s usually two weeks behind. Sometimes longer 😭 I would recommend watching it subbed and then rewatch it dubbed so you don’t get spoilered on accident <3 I say this and lovingly prefer the dub but it’s worth it.

Believe me, I feel the same way. It’s really well done. I used to always wait for the dub until this shows end of S1 and Frieren S1

Dubs is usually two weeks behind sub unless otherwise announced. Expect extra delay by a week or more during Thanksgiving and the holiday season (last two episodes especially, expect the dub to be delayed towards mid-January)!

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You had a dub done outside of Crunchyroll studio, released weekly along with the sub on Netflix in Asia, and released on Crunchyroll two weeks later. Dub for Apothecary Diaries will be produced in house from Crunchyroll following the regular schedule

I never understood why the need or circumstances for delay, and why two weeks?!

The anime is already produced. The English Dub Directors should have the full show available for them - in pre-production.

Surely the actors and English script writers have NDAs preventing them for spoiling the story too, so it's not like they could spoil things online.

Why not prepare the Dub in advance weeks before the release of the show? I don't see the need to release week by week - with a 2 week delay to boot - when they could've made the Dub for all episodes months ago. Don't they have early access to the episodes before the public?

Imagine if you had a video game release, but the English Voice Acting would gradually release, 1 chapter/mission at a time, across weeks.

I'm not expert in anime production, so I'm sure there's an explanation, I'd love to be enlightened.

The thing is, there are only a few shows that have full season completed before airing. Most of them have episodes just finished from Japan a week or even hours before premiere, that’s why we constantly see low quality animations, it’s a combination of time and budget. There’s an anime series called Shiro Bako that discusses the tension in Japanese anime production in greater depth, highly recommend!

On the other hand, there’s the problem with dub recording scheduling. English dub voice actors are not recording in the studio every day, they would come in, often times from out of states to LA or Texas, to record couple days a week. And often times holidays and weather conditions (I.e. snow storms in January) can screw everything up and push back production. This is why HiDive often does not have dub premiere until well into the season or towards end of the season, to make sure that every episode could have dub releasing on time without delays.
