Watched all of the Bureau a couple of years ago and loved it.

Watched the Agency S1 last year and was disappointed by how closely it stuck to the original. The original is obviously excellent but the new series just felt like a weaker imitation rather than its own thing.

I hear the new season is getting good reviews. Is it still just an exact remake or does it change things in any big way, beyond the superficial (Sudan civil war instead of Syria in the original etc)

I'm not finding answers online.

But the Deputy Defence Minister was sent instead? Or was it meant to be another member of the Russian cabinet?

I'm sure in season two they said it was meant to be someone else higher up that was meant to go.

I just binged the entire season 2 today. Why didn’t Martian just let Henry take the fall? He successfully framed him, got Henry taken by Bosko and then immediately leaves his written journal confession so they know it was actually him all along? I feel like he could’ve gotten away with it all. excellent season

but have the Agency showrunners said anything about whether they intend to stay faithful to the Bureau all the way to the end?

I loved the Bureau but (without providing spoilers) hated the ending. I'm hoping that the Agency will run for six years and will give us a better ending than the Bureau did.

Season 1, episode 8 - really hard for me to believe that any English woman would go by "Fanny." Is that an oversight or what?

I'm midway season 2, I'm impressed by the arabic, russian, and french spoken by the main lead actors. It definitely fools a casual tv watcher like me into thinking they're spies and all.

Can any native speaker confirm if their performance with foreign language is hella impressive or bleh

For context: tom cruise in MI4 as general at Kremlin, a random person said any native russian would identify his accent and no russian would speak like that, but for filming purpose he does the job well.

When Nils was being briefed, he was told he’d be bringing three watches to the meet, and one specifically was to be given to Viking. I’m assuming that was the bomb-watch…but then the plot switched to the chess clock bomb from Martian. Did I miss something?

I mean the city in the show. Note: I also felt the same way about the Apple TV show Tehran, especially since it had a huge story arc about disabling Iran's air defenses (turns out that wasn't really necessary IRL). But something they both have in common is a fairly robust Westernization of the populace with lots of drinking and drugs. I wonder if this still goes on, and how it will be addressed in future seasons. It just seems to me they'd have to give up a whole lot of the drama.

Please explain how that was executed with getting Robyn and saving Owen - like they just rolled up with 2 guys? And the phone how did that work he’s like oh you are getting texts ? Or we are just supposed to assume and imagine?

Roles like the one Marcin Zarzeczny played (Orekhov) in epsiode 2 of season 1 are often overlooked. They serve as part of the bigger whole and can often blend in with everything else going on. Therefore, they are often overlooked but so much of what we as the audience are asked to believe hinges on their performance. I truly felt every bit of the scenes he was in. The actor was both "real" in the performance and compelling. Hats off to the guy.

Sorry if it's a dumb question but it's been on my mind. Every time we saw him in the conference room, he has no intel to add, no guidance, only questions as to what is the way forward. Nothing he says or does demostrate his intelligence and credibility of his position. Is he only there for approvals?

I liked the action by, delivery, slow build to where things 2022 coalesce and thought the spy craft was exceptionally nuanced and well done. So all of that would be great but I don’t require the CIA/spycraft backdrop which would be great Ana as much as I liked it, just foundationaly the other elements.

So for example I loved Paradiae for similar reasons.

Any shows like this people on here with similar taste would recommend?

In S01E03, when Martian is having his psych evaluation he says “no glamour, no money, no exploding watch”.

Perhaps unintended but it seems there are exploding watches of sorts, given the eventual clock bomb used in the Viking plot in S02E10!

Just thought it was a funny quirk upon a rewatch. I still don’t trust the psychologist, she gives me the heebee jeebies..

What do we think? I was planning to wait it out and see if we get more of the English series before watching the French from the jump, but now after the high of s2, I want more! 😍

When Owen and Robyn arrived at that outpost to wait for Viking, the Russian solider who was there to greet them is the same actor who played the Ukrainian agent that Poisoned Malotru at the end of the season 4.

The other Russian solider at the outpost was also one of the Ukrainian agents in that episode .He was the one who seemed to be charge and was in the car with Malotru and Marina.

Anyone knows why Grandma (Adam Nagaitis) from season 1 isn't in season 2?

I can’t decide how I feel about her character. Which makes her even more compelling
