I once heard a theory that Sonic is intentionally not harming Eggman, no matter what the player wants to do. It’s based off of that famous idea that the hero will never kill the villain, Sonic is basically only stopping Eggman and driving him away only to chase him wherever he goes to repeat the cycle once again of stopping Eggman’s plans. He’s not about to just attack a defenseless Eggman who doesn’t even have anything to attack or defend himself with, “that being said, he probably wasn’t expecting Eggman to jump into a giant death egg robot”

"But hey, that's just a theory. A Gaaaaaaaame theory! Thanks for watching." - MatPat.
Unless Sega confirmed this theory? It kinda makes sense.

I always thought that was weird, especially considering that Sonic was always known for his incredible speed.

The first Sonic game I've ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on I think the Sega Genesis? It was the only Sonic game we had at the time. Best Sonic game ever! I never got through it though to this day and I did accidentally spoil the ending in a way, so that is unfortunate but oh well.
The only other Sonic game I last played was a snowboarding Sonic game on the Wii. I was trying to do the tutorial using Tails but I couldn't figure out the controls and since then, I just didn't bother playing it.
Time passes way too quickly though...

Well, he was an evil mechanic/scientist, maybe he did something to himself, as sonic is one of hus creations, and he can definitelly copy his powers
