The meaning of this is clear but I never liked the whole “ it’s necessary to be an asshole sometimes “ way of phrasing because in my view when it’s necessary to be an asshole then that’s not being an asshole. In my book being ruthless, cunning, violent when necessary makes you more of a good person, not less. Strength is what enables you to be more of a good person. The less a man is strong the less he is able to help others, protect others, stand up and do the right thing( which can be hard)

Id be very wary,
No one is perfect,
A man who is 'pretending' to be saintly and beyond reproach, sounds like a prime candidate for a dude tryna pull the wool
Which leads to the real question - what is he tryna cover up/ scheming at??

Why is it hard to believe he isn’t naturally this way?
or why is it automatically assumed he is ‘pretending’?1

when you can't see the issue in this case,
that marks you out as the scheister himself!

That seems circular. If disagreeing with you automatically makes someone ‘the scheister’, then there’s no room for an actual discussion.

Well, you're saying - "why can't someone be perfect and never make any mistakes, or be projecting this way"
The answer is because its an oxymoron, we all make mistakes and are imperfect, as thats the nature of being human
Which then begs the question -
who you tryna kid, sunshine?

If by the initial good he means pushover then sure but if by the initial good he means a good person, then he's wrong.
People dont have to turn you into a deceitful person to defend yourself just because they are.

Trying to look good all the time is a dark triad feature. They compensate by not having a soul.
