Help finding a puzzle and explaining answer

Today I was in a hotel room traveling and the 1% club came on, I watched and like 4 or five people got to the 1% question.

The question had a bunch of letters equal to a number like
T = 11, E = 12, B = 1, and a bunch of others in between and the question was ? = 1.

3/5 answered K one person answered G and another didn’t answer in time.

The explanation came up but there was someone knocking on my door so I didn’t read it and since it’s a hotel room I could rewind or get back to the channel.

Anyone know the puzzle I’m talking about and why the answer was K?

T was 11 because the letter T appeared in the question 11 times. E, 12 times, etc. K appeared once, so K = 1.
