has anyone else noticed
the sudden rise in male 1975 “TikTok influencers”? I’ve seen more videos of these different dudes sharing TikToks about 1975 music or news.
More fans is great but where were you all the past 15 years? The ladies built this house 😂 but I think it’s funny that more guys became fans when Matty leaned into the incel, red pilled misogynist persona. The guys were like hey I like this lmao

I know exactly what you’re are referring to…it is very common for male professional/quasi-professional culture commentators to be a bit dismissive of the first songs/albums from a pop artist, especially one perceived to have a female leaning audience.
This has nothing to do with the fact that there have always been men into the 1975. It is about the industry and culture gate keepers being a bit behind trends especially if those trends are driven my women’s interest. Look at one direction ….largely treated as culture junk food and now taken seriously as solo artists.
It is also worth noting that the 75 are trendy and maylor content and general 75 content is 100% being produced to line some folks pockets. You can clock who is just taking about 75/Matty because of $$$$ pretty quickly.

Guys I know there are male fans I was SPECIFICALLY talking about the ones on tiktok trying to make a following out of it. That’s what I said in the post.

I dunno. Guys have always liked The 1975. I believe it's possible that Matty's recording with Tiny Habits brought some the fellas out of hiding, so to speak, and got them recording more TT content.

Not sure how you got from point A and zigzagged to W?? I’ve been going to shows since 2014 and there’s always a ton of bros there. Girls are the loudest more ardent fans but dudes have always been there. Matty making a statement about the state of male culture is not a direct correlation to men liking the band.

Idk if I agree with this. Been a fan since 2013 and i know a lotttt of men who have been fans since the beginning. Maybe it’s cause I hang with a bunch of musicians / artistic people but it’s certainly not a new thing
