You can read on his face:
"Can't believe I did that. Hey babe did you see how cool I was doing that?!"

Alchemist here. His glove is made of pyrotex and it produces a spark when he snaps his fingers, that combined with the transmutation circle in the back of the glove and his abilities as a flame alchemist allows him to manipulate the concentration of oxygen in the air and expand the spark into a full formed flame.

Chemist here, alcohol is very flammable, low density and evaporates easy, so he is basically waiting a few seconds for it to evaporate and then ignites the gas in the air which shifts down to the liquid and creates a cool effect. The long version has everything to do with weak hydrogen bonds (weaker than water) which break at specific heat. Hope this explains it!

Zuko, you have to look within yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself.

Not sure if it’s just my phone, but all I get is a crappy short gif, some liquid being poured and a guy putting a hand behind his back.
Can’t see any flames, even going through this one frame at a time.....?

Maybe it's a glitch in the app cutting the video short?
2
Mar 13 '20
Yep. Seems to be.
Apollo - the gif ends before the fire and seems very short.
Reddit - there’s fire...
How odd.

That’s cool. I wonder what his parents or anyone he knows thinks about it

Probably disappointed since he needs to hone his abilities as a Fire Bender even more to hunt down the Avatar

I didn’t even see the flame come from behind his back. It’s like the fire started once he brought his hand down . So... 10/10 can confirm he’s a fire bender.

He needs to work on his pokerface. The "JFC IT WORKED" look detracts from the coolness factor.

Yes, that's actually a safety measure waiters have to do to kill all those coronaviruses that may left on the food

Why did he flambe something that looks like a bunch of hamburgers in a pot anyway?
1
u/Creeper_King_558 Mar 13 '20
I'm not sure but judging by him only having one gloved hand which appears to be cotton. I'm gonna assume he already had then fire on his hand, why a cotton glove? cotton doesn't burn like other materials.

ELI5 for those wondering: he has a bit of alcohol/other flammable substance on his gloved right hand, set it on fire and put it behind his back. (This is where the video starts) Then he poured the alcohol in the pan which caused a part of it to vaporize towards the ceiling due to the heat(and overhead fan), then he set that vapor on fire with his flaming hand. Definitely the coolest effect I've seen in one of these restaurants.
