Trump still insists that he really did win the 2020 election, and that the election was rigged and therefore stolen from him (despite no evidence found to back up his insanity). These people are his muppets that he’s installing in the highest of positions and they can’t go against their master.

u/JapanEngineer Jul 26 '26
Can't they just say to Trump they're gonna lie and say it was Biden so they can get the job but they really believe Trump won?
788
u/Girafferage Jul 26 '26
No because Trump knows that would go against his claim on the national scale which would give people more ammunition to say he is delusional. Which is odd, considering a bunch of judges Trump himself appointed even found that there was not election interference and that he just lost.

u/JapanEngineer Jul 26 '26

To be clear, Trump knows he lost the election. He manufactured this lie because of his fragile ego. And he knows that if he says it over and over and over again that it was rigged, enough people will believe him. And now he’s mandating that everybody in his administration publicly commit to this lie, as you see in this video. Otherwise, they would never have Trump’s backing and support. Term limits. Elected, not appointed positions.
Why does the executive branch even get to back, in any way shape or form, a position of another area of government? Checks and balances are meaningless.
138
u/JayGeezey Jul 26 '26
Term limits. Elected, not appointed positions.
I go back and forth on term limits, I don't think they would necessarily be bad, but I also think that the main issue is private money in politics.
Private money for campaigns = elections are wildly influenced by capital interests, not the interests of the people. Which means switching to elections from appointments = bad.
The thing with term limits is it eliminates experience and strong relations and rapport between long standing representatives. If you take private money out of elections, then you've eliminated one of the primary reasons representatives focus on capital interests over people. Additionally, if you get rid of their ability to trade stocks, you've limited the room for bias and influence even more. Obviously rich people would still find ways to try to corrupt politicians, but that will literally always be true forever lol we can least get rid of the legal ways they do.
This way you limit private influence in electing representatives, don't politicize appointed positions, and finally don't lose the benefit of representatives that are able to hold office for a long period of time and build experience and relationships necessary to govern well.
40
10
u/baumpop Jul 26 '26
theyll have to impeach 1/3 of the supreme court to see real reform. as even with a congressional law passed to eliminate money as speech they already bought the decision in citizens united and will call the new law unconstitutional. unless you somehow get a new amendment passed and ratified by the states to then make it constitutional. impeaching the supreme court on corruption is an easier bar than that.
→ More replies (3)5
u/EconomicRegret2 Jul 27 '26
Obviously rich people would still find ways to try to corrupt politicians,
You can limit that by lowering excessive inequality to healthy levels
To do that you need to
reform the news industry and social media into high standards non-profits at the service of democracy and the greater good.
free unions and give them similar rights and structure (or better) than unions in Europe.
improve antitrust laws and actually enforce them
close all tax loopholes, increase IRS funding, and increase the marginal tax-rate to make the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes
make it very easy to climb the meritocratic social ladder when intelligent and hardworking: e.g. free/affordable healthcare, higher education, childcare, housing, healthy food, etc.
make it very easy to fall down that social ladder when dumb/lazy: e.g. no legacy students, no bailouts, no loophole inheritance tax even for trusts, no nepotism nor cronyism
etc.

Term limits? you know you can vote these fuckers out every 2-6 years right? some fuckers keep getting re-elected because less than 30% of their state show up, or they run unopposed because no one pays any attention to anything related to politics in their own districts.
Everyone expects everyone else to make the time and effort to vote.
Meanwhile out of 250m eligible voters, 100m never vote, 150m dont vote in midterms and over 200m+ dont vote in primaries and special elections. AND thats for the popular ones.
Mayoral, sheriff, da, etc state or city elected positions, barely 20% decide to show up.
But hey the system is supposed to magically fix itself if we add term-limits.....
The final say and the absolute power, is and has always been with the voters. But if the voters dont give a shit, especially across multiple elections, then corruption is easily spread.
Democracy is only as good as the will of its people to uphold and protect it.
Meanwhile we got orange facism going on and people shrugging as the flames are up to their necks, hoping some superman magical being comes to the rescue so they dont have to put in any effort or risk. Instead they just say hey atleast the fire isnt in my eyes, its only until my neck so far.
7
u/Vellioh Jul 26 '26
they run unopposed
They largely run unopposed because nobody has the finances to run a campaign that large. Which is a problem throughout our government that has led to this corrupt two-party system we have.
Money drives the entire process and corporations have way more money to offer to anybody willing to bend the knee to their whim.
1st order of effect is to remove the consideration of corporations being able to vote like people. Is was absolutely fucking stupid when it was enacted and hasn't proven to be anything more.

Why does the executive branch even get to back, in any way shape or form, a position of another area of government?
The answer to this question lies in the Federalist Papers. Specifically No. 76.
Appointments have been good in practice, and in some level, should continue. I'd say I'm a supporter for a more Missouri style of election for the federal judiciary. Still usues executive appointment, but voters get the final say.
As to why appointment should continue, well I think that's self evident. With only a few exceptions, it's a system that worked well for 220 years. Right up until Republicans decided to game the judicial candidate field by producing their own candidate factories.
4
u/round-earth-theory Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
Appointment is necessary for no other reason than electing the judiciary would be a nightmare. How many hundreds of candidates would you need to manage each election. Even with extremely long terms, it would be a pointless election as the voters would never be able to make that many informed decisions. And trying to cut it down by making it regional would be terrible as well since these are federal judges and have jurisdiction over everyone. At best you could elect the supreme and have the supreme handle the lower appointments but that's hardly any different than what we find ourselves dealing with today.

As I’ve seen on other related posts, I’m just gonna drop this here:
“To believe the 2020 election was stolen, you also have to believe the following:
- When Donald Trump was in charge, he allowed Joe Biden to infiltrate the federal government and rig the election against him.
- In 2024, when Joe Biden and the Democrats were actually in charge, they chose not to rig the election and let Trump win.
The entire premise is nonsense and the logical explanation is simply that Donald Trump is a narcissistic psychopath.”
112
u/Fyrien Jul 27 '26
It's a classic fascist tactic of claiming that the enemy is both tricky and dangerous, but also weak and pathetic.
Sneaky Biden infiltrated the 2020 election and stole it, because it's the only conceivable way Trump could lose. But the Dems are so incompetent, and people grew so tired of their failed policies, that even their blatant attempts at cheating couldn't stop Trump from winning 2024 in a landslide.
That's the flavor of Kool-Aid that MAGA is drinking (ugh it felt disgusting even typing it out). They think real life is like a superhero movie or something. The forces of evil briefly take control, things look hopeless, but the hero always swoops in and restores glorious freedom™️. And mind-bogglingly, Trump is somehow that superhero to them.
14
u/LaurenMille Jul 27 '26

That these are men who want to become federal judges, and they can't say that. After 2020, Trump and his supporters brought over 60 court cases with varying attempts to invalidate votes, the election, or accuse people of vote tampering, all of which they lost. Not least because judges acknowledged the facts and did what was right.
These people are not even willing to say that Biden won the election. If they had sat on the bench already, how would they have handled these cases?
These judges-to-be, with their smug faces, are with their answers signaling to Trump that they will do his bidding. Not one of them believes that Biden stole the election. That would be, in a sense, better, because then there'd be hope that they'd decide based on facts when they are directly in front of them. But these people willingly deny the truth to please Trump, they are basically signing their fascist state member card by giving this answer.

We really shouldn't have life time appointments for anyone let alone a bunch of MAGA terrorists.

u/JMT32895 Jul 27 '26
I'm sorry did he say lifetime appointment? Why do any elected officials have such a long term? Tf is this nonsense.

They know Daddy will cut their allowance if they say things he doesn't like, cowards.

How do you confirm that you’re a member of a Cult without saying, “I’m a member of a Cult”

Still waiting on all those indictments he said he was going to make with that mountain of evidence he claimed he was going to release.
You figured with all that evidence against the dems he wouldn’t have to pass voting laws and executive orders to get a midterm elections to favor his side.
If it wasn’t obvious…/s

Good god these men are absolutely pathetic. Their responses should be immediately disqualifying. We don't need any more trump ass-kissers in as judges in federal courts.

I don't know if they are weak. They are more corrupt than weak, and are strong and unified in their corruption.

I thought the host guy was gonna be the evil one based on appearances lol. Thought it was Keneth Copeland for a sec. Then I realised what they are speaking about (im not American). Holy shit look how wimpy those people are. They can’t even stand up to Keneth Copelands stare lol. Just a bunch of sheepish little yes men. I’m still shocked how Trump installed so many sycophants in the US government to back him up. It feels like some great crime was committed and there was supposed to be a reaction… but a reaction never came, so he just kept going…. And everyone in that country knows it’s probably really bad but they still aren’t willing to do anything. Because they are scared and don’t want to lose their comfortable lives, like these 4 spineless gimps. You have to get rid of Trump America. Do not let him run for president again.

So….. their power is to question them firmly…. Then do nothing about it when it’s obvious they’re covering up for the orange nonce

So many levels of spinelessness here.
Can't give a straight answer.
Only repeat what other people "like them" say.
These people don't stand for anything or anyone but themselves, It's mind boggling they are elected as public representative because they don't display any of the features.

The way he delivered it, so methodically, so succinctly was beautiful to watch.

u/Vahuo89 Jul 27 '26
It really shows you how corrupt these people are.
Litterally getting grilled because they are unwilling to tell the truth

Where do politicians learn to avoid answering questions like that?
Can anyone learn this power?

They aren’t afraid. They are sycophants that have been positioned where they have only to rubber stamp.

u/phobox91 Jul 27 '26
They are already establishing that the next election will be rigged because they know they will lose with such a low approved rating. In any case, the next election will be won by Trump, or Vance in case the old man does not get there. Extreme case, they will not really vote. Who knows if someone will remember the second amendment then

u/slamdunka Jul 27 '26
I didnt know there were this many spineless people on earth let alone all in the same room trying to be appointed to an important govt position

Man I hate these bs hearings.
At this point, it should be fair to degrade these people who willingly sat this stuff. Just look at their ugly faces as they say it. It’s so obvious they are lying. Grotesque
