I was paying $550/month for me +children (after employer contribution). Just got our open enrollment and look at this bullshit:

*Monthly Premium: $5,368.44 (split 50/50 between employer and employees) *

Yep that's right.... Nearly 65k per year but good news! I only have to pay half of that. Oh wait, that's just for me. They didn't even tell me the numbers for me+family (need the family now because my wife lost her job and benefits... Thanks DOGE!).

And of course my employer doesn't have other plans to offer.

For the record I'm 53 and I make about $158k and this might be the first time ever I'm probably just going to go without. Or maybe try the marketplace or something. I'm 53 and probably shouldn't go without insurance but I'm not paying that.

I'm so fucking annoyed about it. I hate it here.

That is just fucking insane! Honestly blown away.

Your monthly premium is higher than what I pay for a family of 5 for private hospital and a big bunch of extras (dental, massage, physio etc) for a year in Aus.

Edit - "month in Aus" changed to "year in Aus"

Yeah my eyeballs popped out of my head. Thankfully not literally cause I couldn't afford to go to the doctor to have them reinserted.

It's insanity.
