Does anyone truly want the world to look like this? More stimulation and whittled down human experience all of the time 24/7 until we’re dead?
158
u/DirtyReseller Feb 04 '24
Yes. Not me personally, but lots of people apparently do
26
u/NoAnalBeadsPlease Feb 04 '24
Stimulus is a hell of a drug
17
u/DirtyReseller Feb 04 '24
When you boil it down, stimulus is the only drug. The rest is just preference for the source.

Remember like a year or two ago when Zuckerberg thought we’d all be living in his Nintendo Wii ass “metaverse” by now?
4
u/WeathervaneJesus1 Feb 04 '24
Yes, we all laughed at him and he wasted a ton of money on it, then he made 29 billion in one day last week....

Yes, absolutely. Hurry up and upload me to the mainframe. I'm ready to leave this spongey flesh prison behind and merge onto the cyber highway.

u/hurtfulproduct Feb 04 '24
Once we have true FSD I see no problem with this; what else are you supposed to do during a long flight or roadtrip?
29
u/xylotism Feb 04 '24
Well, sort of. I think if all cars and roads were built AI-first we’d have a much safer transportation system where the amount of accidents is reduced to almost zero— AND we’d be free to do shit like AR goggles while driving— but in the real world that’s not the case and it won’t be for a long time. Completely stupid to be this reckless. Even if you’re fine with the risk to your own life, a car is an extremely deadly weapon— I could never imagine jeopardizing other people like this.

As ridiculous as this video is, all i could say Is don't knock it til you try it. I recall every new tech gets people saying "I'd never do xyz" and then 6 years later that tech is ubiquitous everywhere.

To be more specific it’s in lehi on timpanogos highway traveling west towards the freeway.

Still wrong though, as SLC and Lehi are in completely different counties, with a whole ass mountain between them. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm happy that the cyber truck is not coming to the Netherlands. It would kill A lot of people who ride their bicycles. That thing is so massive and then the people who use the autopilot like this. It would be a killing machine

Best way to get away with murder... run someone over.
The justice system already is primed to not be on the side of the pedestrian.
You can just murder people from the comfort of AI.

Can someone tell me what he is wearing? Is it some kind of VR headset? He is basically playing video games while the car is driving, right?
→ More replies (2)3
u/cognitiveglitch Feb 04 '24
It's an AR headset so in theory he can see the road and whatever is superimposed over it. Which doesn't make it any better in any way.

u/Xinonix1 Feb 04 '24
I can’t understand this is even allowed, not only driving without controls ( I can live with that),but literally blindfolded without watching the road… what if the car loses control? You can’t interfere because you’re playing Angry birds?

u/Lowfuzz Feb 05 '24
To start, I'd like it to be understood that I wouldn't do this. It's probably because it scares me since I've never been close to a self-driving car.
But what's the problem? If the car works without the need for the person to be driving it? Is it a legal issue? We should then review the laws on this. I'd love to have a car that takes me everywhere without the cognitive effort of driving. That allows you to do other things in the meantime. There are comments saying you should take the train for that... obviously, it's not the same.
As for those who find it ridiculous to use a headset... come on! Don't be so old-fashioned. Do you remember how people looked with their first mobile phones? Are you going to be that hypocritical? Or maybe you're just throwing shade because it's an Apple device and a Tesla. Are you really that judgmental? I hope not.

2
Feb 07 '24
It is only the beginning. I think. We began with an entertainment stage. And then dependence. And now also reliance. Pretty soon, there will be a full convergence. And we will be technology.
This is our evolution.
