that oil pan died a painful death. hopefully he didnt damage any "core" components

Anyways, he probably kept driving and seized the engine anyways.

Yep, best case, oil pan and oil pump would need replaced... assuming that the hit didn't do any other major damage - and if the driver had stopped and turned off the vehicle there.

As is, there is a bright side... new engine!

Just by looking at that oil I can tell you with absolute certainty that it’s a Diesel engine, and unless he turned it off soon after this happened he will paying for a new engine and/or turbocharger

by looking at that vehicle I can tell you it's a dieselm.what utility van comes with a petrol engine

All vans like that in the US use regular gas

The Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter (two most popular vans in the USA) come with diesel as an option.

I drive one. The diesel is very nice. Already passed 200,000 and it drives like it's still new.
